    Vans Aircraft sued for $35M

Vans makes no such claims. There are beginner building classes specifically for Vans kits. They use the terms " able to use ordinary shop tool skills" that can be taught. Besides, this accident was caused by the improper use of materials, not poor construction of the airframe. The...

See! You should be offended. ;)

    New Logo

Okay, now I'm offended again. The logo is leaning to the left. :rolleyes2: What's wrong with leaning to the right? Center is just confused individuals going along to get along. ;) ;)

    New Logo

I am offended by it. It clearly depics a Bonanza as the aircraft of choice for "Pilots of America". Most aircraft being built, sold, and flown in America are experimental in this day and age. So I feel excluded and I might need therapy and counseling. ;) It does look pretty good.

    Vans Aircraft sued for $35M

Or use the search function over on VAF to get the answers, or post the question and they would be happy to help. Better yet call an EAA Technical Counselor (I am one) and they would be glad to visit your shop and instruct you on the correct procedures and products to use. RTV as thread sealant...

    Vans Aircraft sued for $35M

That is silly, and simply untrue. Van's specifies specific products to use all the time. They also refer to the aircraft spandards book for products, techniques and other specs. RTV is not listed for thread sealant. This is a simple case of the builder using the wrong product in the wrong...

Light sport doomed because of student abuse?

I learned to fly ultra lights. You must be gentle or you leave parts on the runway. I think all pilots should learn to fly gently and treat the equipment like it was their own.

    Prop Balance How Often

You really only need to rebalance it changing something. Paint the spinner, paint the prop, etc. If it vibrates more after you dynamically balanced it the job wasnt done right.

    Unidentified roadkill

I came across a gruesome scene a few years ago on I-29 headed to KC. A motor cycle dude had lost control and hit a guard rail. Said biker rode the guard rail for a a hundred feet slicing and dicing him up like a ripe tomato. When I looked at the odometer of his brand new Honda Gold Wing it...

    Vans Aircraft sued for $35M

Does not surprise me at all. What they don't understand over on VAF is that they open themselves up to the very liability they are trying to avoid. Deleting useful information about accidents and how to avoid them may save lives. Deleting the threads with that information in them leaves them...

EAA & Aero News Fights Back Against Frivolous Lawsuit The push back has begun.... "The NTSB's probable cause report states that the accident was likely caused by "a total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation because of a blocked fuel line that resulted from the pilot’s improper...

    Vans Aircraft sued for $35M

Pretty damning evidence. I don't see this going very far in the courts. The cause of the accident is clearly fthe fault of the builder using an unbelievable amount of RTV (which should not have been used on threads in the first place) as a thread sealant and it blocked the fuel flow...
