Hannes Arch Dies in Helicopter Crash

I hadn't seen that yet. Still, that doesn't mean he wasn't a great pilot. We don't yet know the circumstances of the crash. The investigation just begun so we'll have to wait until it's complete to know what happened.

Hannes Arch Dies in Helicopter Crash

I haven't seen anything suggesting that he was flying. There was apparently one survivor but it may be a while before they are able to speak about what happened.

Hannes Arch Dies in Helicopter Crash

I saw this. Very sad to see. He was a great pilot and a great competitor. I enjoyed watching him in the Red Bull Air Race.

    Learning a New Gal

That looks like a lot of fun. Enjoy flying it.

That time we smoked a TBM 930....

Very nice! What does he use the plane for? Work or personal?

    IFR Written... nerves!

Has Shepard Air been/King videos been updated to include the new ACS format (including getting rid of the ADF/NDB questions)?

    Cooling the airplane

I haven't used one of the icebox coolers. Instead I just climb to where the temperature is cooler and open the vents which cools things down pretty quick. I'm not sure this thing would work well in a plane, as others have mentioned.

    Drool worthy

Great looking airplane. I got to see one that looked very similar to this, color and everything, that was maintained very well. Hope this one goes to a good home and continues to be maintained well.

    Arizona flyers check in

What part? I've never been to Montana but the western side up in the mountains looks beautiful and I've always wanted to visit, especially Glacier National Park.

    Arizona flyers check in

I still consider myself an Arizona pilot though I do not live there currently. One day I'll make it back there.

Subforums for Local Areas or Airports

There's already "Cool Places to Fly" with 8 sub forums so I would think it would be similar to that. You may not necessarily need 8, but a setup like that would likely work fine. Perhaps 5? Northeast Southeast Midwest Northwest Southwest

M20 a bit short into Whiteman

Looks like he did a pretty decent job getting down with minimal damage. The guy who saw it thinks the engine failed but I'd like to hear what the pilot says about it.

M20 a bit short into Whiteman

That's unfortunate to see. Glad the pilot is alright. That looked like a nice Mooney J.

    Hmmmm... Justice AggieMike?

Yes: As mentioned, John McCain is one example.

    Hmmmm... Justice AggieMike?

Throw is in a Part 23 Re-write and we can talk.

    Hmmmm... Justice AggieMike?

While there is a difference between eligibility and qualifications, one can start with the U.S. Constitution (Article II, Section 1): Beyond that, there are no minimum required qualifications. We've had generals, statesmen, lawyers, etc.

    New Mooney Acclaim

That's true. I don't see Mooney, or anybody else for that matter, doing it. Even AOPA's Cessna 152 "Re-Imagined" cost something like $90,000. For a 152. That's not worth it when for the same amount I could easily have an M20J or a nicer equipped M20C/E/F.

    New Mooney Acclaim

Even if they did this the price would still be pretty high. I'm not sure the cost would be worth it for Mooney. If I decide to upgrade my Mooney at some point I'd be looking at either a J or a K. I love the J-Bar. If they just did the Part 23 re-write I'd be happy. Better equipment for a lot...
