M20 a bit short into Whiteman

That's unfortunate to see. Glad the pilot is alright. That looked like a nice Mooney J.
 
Glad the pilot made it out… airplanes are replaceable, people aren't. Still, I'd love to have an M20J, as I've always drooled over the performance of those aircraft. Guess I'd pass on this particular plane ;)
 
Bottom tip is curled. Top is fine. Prop was stopped prior to accident.
 
That will buff right out...
 
Mooney welded-steel fuselage structure on duty.

Busted plane, walking pilot. Flew it til it stopped. Call it a win!
 
It said he clipped several cars. I'm guessing it's a pretty built up area. I'm glad he found a place to land without hurting anyone.
 
Something I love to see. Crumpled wings with an intact fuselage. Lets hear it for welded steel.

Yep. Lost the engine, set it down in an urban environment. Pilot uninjured.

AND NO CHUTE!! How did the pilot ever live??? Oh, that's right, it's a Mooney with a welded steel cage around the cockpit.
 
Just saw the video. The right wing hit a car going the other way, there's a huge fuel spill as it tears off . . . Amazing! He stopped pretty quick, too, but he was sliding sideways after ripping off the wing.
