Truckers and autos sharing the road

Between Detroit and Chicago, or Chicago and Indy, where it is really busy, there's a lot of chatter. They talk a lot in summer, too, when the convertibles are out:eek: or when there's a "JB" driver in the mix! Once I had a heavy trailer with a rusty antique car from the 20s on the back. From...

Truckers and autos sharing the road

Most drivers are in very close communication with other drivers and you'll find it won't be long before another professional driver informs them of a shifting load, loose strap, etc. I always use a CB and these folks are a blast to listen to. They cooperate when merging and passing, look out...

    Everyday is an education......

I really doubt that there's any valid data linking car keying to political stickers. I know it makes for a good story and maybe good talk radio but cars were getting keyed long before this last election.

What was the wind speed? That might explain what happened.

    Now I understand the Europeans.....

Just know the names of all the rigs, and all the antennas, and you've got two of the questions right there (since most of the test QSOs have those questions).

10 years since Jessica Dubroff's accident.

I was flying in Colorado when this accident happened. I was amazed how some of my pilot friends took off with thunderstorms approaching. I never had the guts. I think the root cause of this accident was the decision to take off into that weather. As I recall that storm had hail and some serious...

    This really sucks..

Same here. My rule is always trade enough paint to generate a police report.

    Cessna 172 turns 50.

Very cool. I have one of the earliest ones. I like the nose-down cruise attitude better than the later ones. And the manual flaps with a full 40 degrees are awesome.

    PIC of a Heavy

I think I would take it around three times for currency, while I was at it. Then I would get out my logbook and calmly write it in.

    I feel like a smacked A$$

Towbar swings back behind front wheel and drags on the ground after landing. In flight I would guess it would just hang down and back. Takeoff would be the scary part, if the towbar was in front of the wheel (like it is when you pull the plane out) and hits a big crack. I always put mine in...

    I feel like a smacked A$$

A few weeks ago one landed with the towbar attached. Happens about twice a year.

    I feel like a smacked A$$

When I was youger I was on a commercial flight, over the wing. All during the taxi I noticed the ailerons were at the stops, in a right turn. I nudged my boss, and said something like "that doesn't look good". He mumbled something and went back to reading. I actually knew so little about...
