NA - The Economics of Impersonation

Texas simply restricts you from participating in more than one party’s primary process in a year. If you vote in the republican primary, you can’t vote in the democrat primary, or any democrat run off election. There is no registration as such, other than as a registered voter. But the last...

NA - The Economics of Impersonation

Usually they actually spend the money on security. It is the churches, blogs, and mom and pop operations who do their own site, or don’t spend enough on security that you have to worry about. Heck, even CNN has been infected at times. Voting in primaries can likely get you into some systems...

    Ford 9N Ignition Issues

And if you don’t want to cook the resistor if you leave the key on, not running, it needs to be at least 5.25 watt rated. 5 would probably do if you are halfway decent about not letting it sit key on, not running. 10 if you like safety margins.

Bought my wife a Caterpillar D4

If you are a real glutton for punishment, and have a lake nearby, find a steel hull trawler with a Detroit diesel.

What, not a Lotus? I thought Lucas, price of darkness, had an especially strong affinity for Lotus.

Well it was a good (almost) 10 years.

I know people with family who have been stalked to the extent they won’t even tell family what state they moved to. I know a retired police officer who thought he was being stalked by the town idiot, but in fact was being stalked by someone that nobody expected to be involved. I just can’t...

Bought my wife a Caterpillar D4

When my wife and I met, I had a 94 ranger, and she had a 95. Both 3.0, extended cab, manual trans. At times, I wish we kept one of them. But our current F150 handles our current truck mission nicely, and the current ranger isn’t the little quirky handling trip down memory lane.

Well it was a good (almost) 10 years.

I’m not too concerned about people knowing when I’m not at home. My wife is likely a better shot than I am on any given day. Apparently yesterday someone was taking so loud outside that she thought someone had entered the house. She had just finished clearing the house when I got home.

    Need a little electrical advice

A fun find while helping others. Some previous owner wanted to set up a new 3 way switch. Rather than run correct new wire, at one of the boxes, they ran a new neutral to an outlet box on the other side of the same wall cavity. So the 3 way switched light was fed from one circuit, but...

    iPad cut/paste

They are urging people to each use their own iClound account, then use family sharing so you all get the apps, rather than all using the same iTunes account. Then you would be able to use handoff between your phone and iPad, without showing up on her phone or iPad.

How the GPS system works and why April 6, 2019 is so dang important.

My firm goal is to be retired, at least from IT by then, and just not give a flip.

State income tax & paid piloting

My day job employer reminds us that currently they must report to NY if we work the equivalent of two weeks per year in NY. It is on my list of places to most strongly avoid business trips to there. Just slightly behind Saudi Arabia based on experiences of coworkers over a decade ago.

Condensers can fail low resistance, or open. If everything else is generally checking out ok, and they aren’t unreasonable, changing the condenser makes sense.

How the GPS system works and why April 6, 2019 is so dang important.

Well, brokerages are risk adverse at the best of times. You can’t make money if you are down, and you can loose a lot of money being down. And if some consumer or industrial sector got it wrong, the market was absolutely going to have a vastly overblown reaction, which would be the absolute...

    iPad mini: It's alive!!!

Yeah, Apple brand tribal knowledge. I always make sure I have a recent iCloud backup and a new PC backup before changing devices. I’ve never actually had to go back to the PC backup, but can’t shake belt and suspenders mentality.

    iPad mini: It's alive!!!

Odd. Going from a 6s to a Xs, the hold near jumpstart worked for both my wife and I. Didn’t do 100%, but was quite a shortcut.

They probably used the other 6 bits to store something else important. Back when the system was developed, it was common to try to save bytes where you could.
