    Thinking about a riding mower

Check out a Gravely walk behind with a Sulky. Cheaper than a zero turn and works the same. You can also get a snow blower for it.

Second happiest day of my life?

Just an update...over a dozen folks interested in pictures and to ask questions. Three conversations and one visit from a guy who said he was a Garmin installer and the Garmin autopilot was not STC'd for my plane so he wouldn't buy it...before I opened the hangar. He did say he would pass...

    What plane should I buy?

Late model Cardinal. The crank out vent windows will alleviate the need for A/C.

    177 vs 182 For cargo

I flew my 150hp Cardinal to Oshkosh from Alabama. I took out the back and co-pilot seats and carried a cooler, two plastic storage bins, a 6 person tent and air mattress, a screen tent, two burner stove, folding table and two chairs. Plus clothes and food. I flew over the Chicago Class B on...

Fixing the COVID-19 Crisis in 30 days

I think you missed the point. News organizations saying that medical advice is not "proven" are giving medical advice. I'd rather take unproven advice from a doctor than any medical advice from a talking head.

Fixing the COVID-19 Crisis in 30 days

I strongly recommend this Scott Adams 12 minute podcast. It gives a perspective on people who say not to take the advice of doctors because they aren't experts on a virus that has never been seen before...

The Use Of Checklist - Good or bad?

I do my walk around by memory. Then I sit in the plane and take a deep breath and pick up the check list and visualize me having done each item. If I can't say I did it on THAT preflight then I go out and do it. I turn my list over and read the start checklist before I do it. Once settled I...

Fixing the COVID-19 Crisis in 30 days

I would like to speak to my brothers bona fides and to bring in an aviation tie....While working for the WHO in Switzerland, my brother would routinely fly to central Africa where he would hire a plane and instructor for a flight to "the interior." He never got his license but has over 800...

Fixing the COVID-19 Crisis in 30 days

My brother the doctor said two things recently: This is the most embarrassing thing in the history of the medical profession, and The virus will be over in mid-November. BTW, he is a big lib and worked for the WHO and for the Obama Admin.

Buy a Plane, need some advice

I'm selling my plane, I went through a thorough Vref assessment and did the add and subtract where there was no Vref like a new Icom radio. I want to sell it so I advertised a few $k less than the Vref came up with. If someone wants to offer me less, I will show them my calculations. I expect...

Second happiest day of my life?

I'll miss the freedom of ownership you don't get in renting. I think I'll miss my 1962 Willys Pickup more when it goes because I drive that more often than I fly the plane.

Second happiest day of my life?

Well, that time has come. We are moving and the closest airport isn't that close to where we will be. I fly occasionally now and any less would be neglect. The airport doesn't have hangar space but does have rentals. I guess that's my life when I move. I put a free ad on Barnstormers and got...

    Stupid pilot trick number 2

Interestingly, the 1968 Cardinal owners' manual does not say that the sumps should be checked during walk around. It says that if there is water when you pull out the strainer drain knob then check the sumps.

Help me pick a plane (UPDATE: PICKED ONE)

I fly a Cardinal and would not recommend it for your mission. Lots of room in a Cardinal that you won't be using. All that room transfers to drag.
