Go for it. It’s a great time for aviation for now. Get in on the front of the wave

United Airlines dives to 700ft above the ocean

It’s already happened here at DL. Word from check airmen is they’re doing just fine. Supposedly this United crew was experienced.:dunno:

    Airline Autonomous flight technology

I see it coming eventually just not as quick as you may think. Also you can’t compare retail workers to pilots. It’s much easier to automate a cashier’s job. I think people would be skeptical to see one pilot up front.

    Airline Autonomous flight technology

Which is why we put in our contract that there will be at least 2 pilots in the cockpit

    Austin International Airport: near disaster

3 miles should be plenty. Planes are doing like 130-150kts on final so that’s like 2ish miles per/minute so you’ll have at least a minute to get into position. Not sure what kind of separation ATC needs

    Austin International Airport: near disaster

3 miles is nothing. In Europe they’ll clear you to land at like 500ft. London is notorious. I think the lowest we got a landing clearance was 200ft. As long as you have the separation, you’re good

Southwest Airlines reducing minimum requirements for pilots

You don’t even need TPIC to get hired anymore. Or a degree. For now

Asked for tip on a commercial flight?

I’ve upped my tipping in restaurants since Covid but agree the tipping has gotten out of hand. I just went on a cruise where tipping was included in the fare. It was nice to sign the bill and not see a tip line. I don’t feel guilty at all hitting the no tip button

Different address on airman cert and medical

Hey all, being a cheap pilot, I’m not about to spend $2 on a new airman cert to reflect my new address. I have my medical scheduled next week and plan on using my new address when I fill out MedExpress. Anyone have any issues with different addresses on different documents. I’ve already notified...

    Seeking advice for son

It really doesn’t matter. There are advantages and disadvantages for both 61 and 141. I’d have him get a non aviation degree and go with the cheapest flight school.

Regional Airline Applicant with Upcoming Driving Violation. Advice needed!

Suspended license may be an issue but I’d try to at least get it knocked down to reckless driving. Either way, they’re going to run a DMV background check. Honestly in this hiring age, you probably won’t even get to a regional class for at least 6 months. I hear everything is way backed up.

Regional Airline Applicant with Upcoming Driving Violation. Advice needed!

There’s almost a zero percent chance that this will affect your application. Just report it on your airline apps and move on.

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

Assuming it was a high speed abort (greater than 80kts, you need to check brake temps and you’ll need to get approval to continue from a chief pilot or duty pilot. Either way, you’re going back to the gate usually. Pilots also could have been tight on their duty limits so they may have had to...

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

Meh. They’ll be fine. Mistakes happen and thankfully this didn’t end up worse than it could have. Always a good reminder to stay vigilant and alert.

FAA launches investigation after two planes nearly collide at JFK airport

31L/KE is used based off of routing. If you’re filed over a certain fix, you can expect 31L/KE for departure per the ATIS.

    all flights grounded

I’m just glad the FAA warns me when 155 radial of ABC VOR is unusable below 2500ft. And all those unlit cranes. #savinglives
