    Lets make Friday 'Joke Day'!

That movie needed a good tagline. Something like "you've just been reconciled" or "you're an accrued liability".

Looking for info on less lethal/non lethal self defense products

The M&P 380 EZ is specifically made to be "EZ" to rack and load the magazine. Recoil is minimal and is internally hammer-fired, not a traditional striker-fired so the strength required to rack the slide is low. It's a micro compact, but it's not quite Ruger 380 LCP small.

    Size of hangar

60x60x16 with a 45'x12' or 50'x12' bifold door. Can you fit two high wings or two low wings in a smaller space? Sure. However, playing tetris with aircraft could get nerve-wracking when you only have inches of clearance. Not to mention storage of other aviation items and room to actually...

Anyone else propose to their wives in flight? Using a helicopter AND and airplane?

Yup, proposed by flying over a lake where we had a dock with the message written on it. Wife was under the impression we were going to a fly-in brunch that took us over the lake. Her family was in the boat out in the water as we flew over. Landed at a local airport and had family waiting to...

FFS. I need a new hobby.

Right up there with the 10-10 warranty. 10 days or 10 miles, whichever comes first, lol.

I'd also second the recommendation of CCW, especially in .380 or 9mm. My wife absolutely loved shooting a S&W M&P .380 EZ as the recoil was minimal, it was fairly compact, and racking the slide or loading the magazine is incredibly easy. I ended up getting her the 9mm version of that gun, but...

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

I understand home built with CMU, and there's nothing wrong with CMU. Cost-wise (at least in the manufacturing projects I've been involved with), the tilt-wall or poured concrete was cheaper. Some of that is complex due to larger volumes and bigger spans. A 70-80' span for a hangar may make...

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

I'm not a structural engineer, but I'm not sure that the tilt wall fabrication dictates only a flat-roof. I don't know why they couldn't fasten pitched roofing trusses the same way they do flat roofing trusses as long as it was accounted for in the initial design. Perhaps there's something...

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

I can certainly understand that. It's worth looking into for this application though, even if the cost is the same as CMU construction. Precast wall sections can often be more expensive but they go up quickly as you can have all of the walls up in a few days at most with a crane/hoist.

    Big Hangar Roof Questions

Concrete block . . . as in stacked CMU block? I would think precast wall sections or poured concrete walls would be cheaper than the labor to deal with that. Also, steel trusses on a building span that big would be cheaper than anything you build from wood.

    Comet from the flight levels

I dunno, I can think of a few spots on this planet it could hit that might quiet down some long-lived warzones for a few centuries.

    Insurance cost of Milton

I have a feeling a large number of those aircraft are unairworthy anyway and so collecting the insurance payment was far more lucrative than trying to sell it outright or move it to safety elsewhere.

    Any Hunters in Here?

Did the AR10 have an especially short barrel? Mine isn't full-auto, but I feel that the AK47s I've shot are harder to control with rapid semi-auto than the AR10 (mine is .308 with 20" barrel) despite being of similar weight. Having the brass ejecting toward you would definitely not be fun...

WP 3D Orion how does it stay intact?

It is, but it's not an instantaneous drop. There isn't some mystical 1" thick wall between the eye and the inner wall where winds go from 200+ kts to 5 kts. Remember the wings don't know they are flying at 100kts groundspeed, or 400kts groundspeed. The air flowing over them is the same...

    Class Bravo Operations

This. Just make small deviations around the clouds to remain clear in Class B. If this is an actual cloud ceiling/deck then I would be requesting lower, or advising ATC that I would be descending to whatever altitude keeps me clear.

Flight simmers - help me understand the market for super-realistic airplane models

Yeah, I think my biggest issue aside from just having spare time to mess with it (coaching multiple sports for multiple kids right now lol) is just not having a dedicated setup. Having to unbox the yoke/throttles and clamp them in place on a desk, move around various equipment, getting MSFS...

Flight simmers - help me understand the market for super-realistic airplane models

I also came from the early days of MSFS on a Windows 3.1 machine. I have the fanciest version of the MSFS2020 on my computer and I think I have played it twice lol. I have decent yoke/throttles (Honeycomb stuff) but I struggle to find enough time to set it up and play. I think it would be great...
