    For Sale F-104

One of the old guy civilian sim instructors in Meridian when I went through, had done a USAF exchange in Voodoos many years ago, apparently. His sentiments were similar. I believe he said it was the worst airplane ever built, or something to that effect.

    The time change

At least you aren't at 48N......we have a 4:35 PM sunset tomorrow :(.....as well as an "atmospheric river" rolling through. Felt like I was on a night flight over the ocean on a no moon overcast night, just driving around my neighborhood at 5 tonight.

    Flying UNDER a MOA question

Is the hidden question here: can I fly under the confines of a MOA? Of course. Or are you saying that you wouldn't be able to maintain route MOCA/MRA/MEA while doing so, and the question is if that is important? Also, why are you diverting? Weather? In flight emergency? That would make a...

    What Is Hard IFR?

WX at approach mins I'd say. If I'm not feeling proficient, LIFR is probably close enough of a definition. I'd probably take depth of the cloud layer into account in winter storms or when icing is a factor.

Alec Baldwin shoots and kills cinematographer.

I agree that this doesn't have anything to do with the shooting, but it could be relevant, in terms of contributing factors. Was she a heavy drinker that went out partying every night? Was she partying the night before the shooting? Did alcohol contribute to a lack of full mental awareness or...

    KAPA on field Restaurant

Agreed, nice place with a great view and good service. Can get a bit busy at times, but that was pre COVID so no idea now. We normally stopped there to get gas for the jets if flying to/from Fallon back to Oceana. Runway is very narrow for how long it is, which was always an interesting sight...

New to the forum, female student pilot :)

Hah, she showed up on my FB feed a while back and somehow my clumsy fingers + iPhone accidentally friend requested her while looking at whatever post it was. I realized this when she accepted my friend request :) And I agree, she seems like a cool lady & devoted pilot.

MD-87 in flames in Houston field, all occupants apparently evacuated

Was that the one where the CVR recorded a cockpit discussion during taxi about another (recent) similar 121 accident, while they too forgot to configure and all died several minutes later in a similar manner? Whatever accident I'm thinking of, that was eerie. Agree with the idea that there must...

    A Cool Little Navy Film

hah, don't worry, they still sell the yearbook. You can still roll into the Photo Booth in your SDBs and pose with a cool look that will be captured forever :) In hindsight, I never bought one, and now I kinda wish I had when I had the opportunities.

    A Cool Little Navy Film

It has become more liberal in interpretation more than anything I think. I was never a person that thought it was useful or important to spend a bunch of time taking selfies or filming, so not unsurprisingly, I don't think I'm in any of the videos that have made it public :) Actual...

Navy Training Flight Down in TX

Maybe we need a fire extinguisher roll-call topic :)

Navy Training Flight Down in TX

To be fair, I don't know that too many folks up around here actually own fire extinguishers.....(actually they probably do out here in the sticks, but I digress)

Navy Training Flight Down in TX

Most likely doing "weekend ops" out of Corpus International because Kingsville closes for the weekend on Friday night (at least it used to). It was quite common to stage NAS Corpus and NAS Kingsville aircraft at KCRP during the weekends to facilitate weekend flying.

Let’s say you get intercepted by F16’s…

Yeah we had the holdback too in the Hornet/Super, I imagine it is common to all M61 equipped aircraft. We had a little peg that sticks out the left side of the jet that the ordies punch to arm it up in the arming area. They wouldn't be able to access the electrical connection from there though...

Let’s say you get intercepted by F16’s…

That's bizarre. So what happens when you actually expend the rounds? No CG problem in that case? (yes I realize the shells are retained) :) Can't speak for the Viper since the ones I flew had the gun removed, but in the F/A-18, the only way you carried rounds you didn't intend to shoot was when...

    Laser strikes

A few times over the years at the NOLF Fentress pattern near VA Beach. Another time over Iraq. None of them caused any damage, and were mainly just a nuisance/safety of flight concern. Local PD actually ran a sting operation on one of the offenders at Fentress, and caught the guy.

    Wintergreen Chewing Tobacco - DUI

Hah, interesting, I did not know that.

    Wintergreen Chewing Tobacco - DUI

Those are also very specific specialty products, and it isn't hard to see that they have booze in them (they are marketed and labeled as such). Your run-of-the-mill Copenhagen doesn't have alcohol. I'm still confused about how this is exonerating in the OP's mind??? There is no question that dip...

    Garage upgrade project complete!

Yeah he said he doesn't really like Ferraris, but if you are going to be an owner, that would be one I'd choose.....or I'd love to have an F40 stowed away somewhere one day :) OP, have you considered MaxJax as a stopgap? Pretty low overhead requirement, and not a lot of install investment, so...

    Garage upgrade project complete!

You're parking your 993 on the wrong side of that bay :) jk, looks incredible, nice collection too! I am currently procrastinating my own garage reno project. I guess create usable storage space in attic project comes first, then I can dump all the ridiculous boxes of non-car things up there...
