    "fly the track"

I can delete it from my memory bank. I'm just curious about what it means. Bob, I love your Advanced Pilot book (if it's possible to love a text book). Thanks.

    "fly the track"

What does that mean? For an airline pilot? Why would he want to track a course instead of flying a heading?

    "fly the track"

I can't remember exactly how the controller replied, but something along the lines that he was cleared to do so. It didn't seem like a funny. This was at SeaTac. Not sure the exact approach. But flights were being cleared for 16R.

    "fly the track"

Well, it was a visual approach at SeaTac. So, Class Bravo. But not VFR. You'd think the ILS would have been switched on...

    "fly the track"

Sometimes, I listen to ATC in the car on the way to work, and pretend I am flying my plane. Nah, not really. I listen to ATC so I can get more comfortable writing down clearances, and understanding and responding to fast-talking controllers (I'm working on my IR). This morning...

There's a ton of help out there, in here, in books, online. Be patient, have fun, and keep your eye on the prize! The day you...

    No SIDs/STARs

Thanks all, for the awesome answers/comments/opinions/points of views/perspectives. Love this board for that reason. I think I got my official answer (textual description), but got a whole lotta insight along the way. And will learn to love my SIDs/STARs.

    New IR student

Lou, I'm in Washington State, and I fly out of KPWT. Originally, a Kiwi. I've been checked out by the you know who's, and apparently I'm not a threat.

    New IR student

Join the (IR student) club. Yet more flying fun IMHO, although there are times when I forget my own name up there.

    No SIDs/STARs

Okay, I understand that you do not have to accept a SID or STAR, and that you can note this on your IFR flight plan. What I don't understand is why you wouldn't want a SID or STAR. I can't find anything that explains why. The only theory I can come up with is that you either don't have...
