All seems to go well as long as you're ahead of the plane and ahead of the situation. Get behind either and a little confusion can quickly turn into a lot of confusion. As with most things in aviation, this depends on the pilot and how he/she handles the situation at the moment.

I was at 10C today and at some points along the taxiway the snow was just about six inches below the Citabria's wing tips. Had to watch out for spades.

Relatives in San Antonio have made the same suggestion.

A bit of clarification never hurts. It's the after the fact "well duh" that really smarts.

Thanks Scott. I use a sizable propane heater that warms the engine and cockpit. All instruments function properly from the start. Diana, I'd love to do a few loops and rolls tomorrow (just purchased a parachute), but I agree, probably not a good idea at those temps.

I'd like to fly tomorrow, Citabria 160 HP engine. The problem is the temperature is supposed to be 0-5 degrees F. The engine will be pre-heated to approximately 60 F. prior to flight. However, twice before, when I have flown at these temperatures, once in the air, the oil temp. never reads...

It is doubtful the taxiways will be clear at my airport by Saturday morning (at least in front of my hangar), however, I'm planning on flying to KJVL Sunday morning arriving at 9:00. I'll still try to make it Saturday if I can get my plane out and the weather is VFR, but neither looks good...

FAA medical at 9:00am in St. Charles, but weather permitting, could make KJVL by 11:00. Weather permitting, going to give it a try. Buzz

This could have been over the town providing a special waiver was received; usually specifying a specific location, time, duration of flight and minimum altitude.
