Harrison Ford doin' some bush landings

Lol, give Han Solo a break... I've had two mechanical failures that resulted in loss of engine power in flight. One mix cable broke on my C-150 after a long x/c. Engine fell silent on final at the end of a long day of x/c flying landing back at Colorado Springs at 0200 in the morining...

Getting ready to paint - a few questions

If you ever think the numbers will need to be removed, don't clear over them. FYSA, clear coat is almost always the first thing to start peeling on an airplane.

    ForeFlight vs WingX Pro?

Started with FF, switched to WingX several years ago. I have the subscription with all the bells & whistles, and a Radenna Skyradar-D with levil AHRS. I love it! Almost don't need the regular instrument panel...(JK)

    TnG's in retractable gear aircraft

My 210 book (unfortunately I only own the book!) says the same thing. When doing repeated pattern ops, leave the gear down and locked...

    G5 mount location...

Great move! I'll tell you from personal experience, that rarely does the install go as smoothly as it should. There are always variables that are hard to see until you are "in the middle of it." For example, when we picked up our Skyhawk 8 years ago, it had pretty much the original panel...

    Piper vs Cessna

Just stay away from twins! Our flight training center here has a C310, and so far it is 6 weeks and $20k into the annual. We changed both props (with ones we already own) and the list keeps going, and going, and going... I don't have a huge amount of experience with Cherokees, I am fond of...

How will It end? (old engines)

I have a couple of experiences: #1: Lycoming O-320-D2J (Cessna 172P) at the Osan Aero Club, ROK: ~1200SMOH (New Limits) by signature engines, burned piston ring, subsequent piston failure caused metal contamination thru entire engine. (Lycoming granted NO core credit) #2: Lycoming O-320-D2J...

Looking to learn: Who has owned an early Cessna 210 (Straight thru 210E)

Greetings most esteemed brain trust! Have any of you owned the venerable early Centurion (and the 210 before it was so named?) I'm curious to hear about your happy and sad moments with the bird,--likes, and dislikes, etc... I'm probably in the market for a 182, but I so much like the looks of...

    G5 HSI w/ GTN-650

From a recent YouTube video I watched, a guy in Australia has one connected to his GNS-530W as an HSI in his Cessna 150. He put the G5 in the upper CDI hole, and still has his GI-106A in the lower hole. Both are connected to the GNS530W. I'm not so sure that the FAA wouldn't approve of this...

Piper Warrior - Major overhaul options for high-time engine

Best. Advice. Ever! One of my flying buddies had Cherokee 180. Looking through the engine logs, that engine approximately 3,600 hrs before the first overhaul. He bought the plane when it had 2100hrs on the second run (for $17k). And then he flew it for another 500 hrs on that engine...
