That’s not unique to Florida, though. I learned that tactic while driving in Boston. People up there don’t drive defensively; they drive offensively.

When we moved to Florida from the west coast, I was surprised at how many men tuck their shirt in, especially t-shirts with shorts. It’s like a little time capsule from 35 years ago.
 
Ah, the Redneck Riviera in Lower Alabama. Living in Pensacola had some nice points, but even taking the dog for a walk in summer leaves you looking like you ran a marathon.

Or summer from what I've heard. We spent parts of fall and winter here in years past. I think we'll keep it that way going forward, just with more flexibility and longer stays now that we live closer and have our own place. During spring and summer this place is supposed to pay for the mortgage lol.

rules for driving around Boston include

- the wreck has the right of way

- never ever get caught looking at the other car.

- don't jump the green... a lot of people will run the yellow, pink, and right lights. (particularly important for drivers from areas that will jump the green - I'm looking at you NY/NJ drivers...)

If get far away from the Boston area, these rules are no longer applicable.

I thought that's also unique to Florida but glad it's not. Florida is the only place I look left and right at a green light. I never drove in Boston.

Learned that one on my first business trip to Boston. I was complaining about how many times I was cut off by another car, and the Bostonian I was meeting with said, "Oh, you made eye contact, didn't you? Don't do that. If they know you see them, they're sure you won't hit them."

And he was absolutely correct.

Need to do the same here in Gallup. Stop at a red light and risk getting hit from behind. Go through a green light and risk a T-bone. Do only 30mph over the speed limit and risk getting hit from behind. Absolutely no traffic enforcement, except when the state police are in town, usually once a month. Then a LOT of tickets are issued.

Don't know yet. Right now I'm at a smaller one nearby but don't love it due to the inconvenience. I think if I find hangar space, I'll go anywhere within an hour's drive. If I have to be on the ramp, I go to the big one.

So if a hurricane heads toward Texas you stay in Florida? And vice versa? But you started in Canada so does that mean the polar vortex is following you? How do you know a hurricane won’t follow you too?

I should be safe from hurricanes up in Dallas. Might get hit by bowling ball sized hail, but hurricanes shouldn't be a problem up there.

ECP was close, but I couldn't stomach the price for basic hangar. Ended up at F95 with a hangar at the end of the row (what I called an "L" hangar). About an hour drive, but no traffic so it wasn't too bad. And the rent was a third of what ECP wanted. No instrument approaches though.

If we hear the news of a polar vortex hurricane bouncing between Texas and Florida we'll know what caused it.

I almost pulled one off ~1.5 years ago. ~8 pilots were interested. Mother nature put the kibosh on it.

I'm going to be in Destin again the last two weeks of March if per chance we want to pull something off then. I'll have one, possibly two, open bedrooms. I'll have a car and can shuttle.

Consistent with the thread title, if we pull something off, it would be "bad news" for @Half Fast as that means we'll have met F2F 2X in a couple months!
