FWIW, My Ovation's useful load is 1,059 pounds and works well for the sorts of missions you're talking about.So, most common scenario is wife and I with week/weekend bags. But, I'd like the option for 4 for short $100 hamburgers. figure 800 pounds plus 2.5h of fuel as a worst case. I think this puts it somewhere around 1000-1100 pounds of useful for a 5% use case type of flight. With the exception of some late model M20J and the M20k models this looks pretty doable. If I did an M20k this would just restrict my ability to take all 4 of us on flights. This is rare if I'm being honest with myself.
This is only true if you're significantly below average height. I'm 6'4" 325# and the Mooney is one of the most comfortable singles I've ever flown.Mooneys should be discarded entirely for comfort reasons at 2+ bills.
Nope, that sounds pretty much right on. I have about 500 hours in a 1971 182N and it was about 130 without the pants and 135 with. Maybe 3 knots faster on a good day. OTOH, a brand new 182 with G1000 and not so much in the way of dirt or dents can easily do 140+.It's a 1963 182F. I think 130 is pretty on target without wheel pants for the older planes. That's 130 knots true. I think the newer 182s are a bit cleaner and true a bit faster. Maybe I'm wrong?

Obviously ask and sell price are two different things, but they won't be 20-30% apart. There is one from 1994 at $182K, but that thing still has basically a 1994 panel and interior. Looking at the rest of what's on Controller, mine's probably worth 20% more than I have it insured for... And I just updated hull value either last year or the year before!

I sold it for the exact price I paid for it brand new. I thought that was pretty cool until my wife had to ruin it for me by saying, "how much more do you make now than you did five years ago?" ~35%. "How much more are our houses worth?" ~50%. "How much more does it cost to go out to eat?" ~40%. Now I completely realize that many of these don't have logs to review and pictures can hide A LOT of sins. But, this are the kinds of ads I see that make me think about switching. I haven't listed any Mooneys here but they are even more affordable.

For other than short trips to my avionics shop, well over 50%. I do over 2 hours for a $100 hamburger.Curious the ratio of your trips 2hr duration.
You can get an SR20 for that price though.Honestly I’d love a cirrus but this seems like a whole new level of cost and I’m not getting anywhere near an sr22 at even 200k.
