the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

One of these....yeah...that's it..

Ok, I see some folks here won't let this go, so here it is...I was unloading the dish washer. I grabbed a couple of glasses off the top rack (I did not roll it out) and while coming out I hit that little tang that holds the door closed while it is running, and it laid me open. Stupid place to put a latch. Anyone think I have a case against Whirlpool.??

One good part, I did not have to clean the blood off the door. I just turned the washer on...

then this belongs in the “really bad design” thread

Most of my worst injuries were due to washing dishes.

One of my many submissions... I broke my foot hiding from the dog to see how long it would take her to find me. Turned off the lights in the mancave I'm building above the detached garage. Hustle down the stairs. Jump the last couple and attempt to go around the corner. Land on a bag of ice melt Ankle rolled and heard the pop. I knew it was broke before completing the fall.
Many of the others involve me trying to keep up with a dog.

You're both in good company. Or ... well, at least my company. Judge the goodness on your own.

Ha - no real man would have an injury from such a simple ….. oh, wait…..

Had a really bad left ankle sprain. Was running in winter many years ago with our dog on leash, dog sees a Christmas reindeer lit up in yard, lots of tumbling.

Was at a track day with my track bike ninja 250. Made about 50 hp, so it was a was to focus 100% on practicing technique. I was going 5 mph on a hairpin, and it tipped over. Perfect near standstill fall. Broke collar bone, cracked two ribs, and crush broke (phrase the Dr said) my right wrist. Proud owner of 8 titanium pins and a nice titanium plate.

Oh- I was 8 years old and was in the local small town’s optimists club bicycle safety race. 12 stitches at the emergency room.

Beats me by a lot.!!

I have had 12 stitches but only 3 at a time. One time I was replacing the top clearance lights on the back of a U-Haul cargo truck, and took a step back to see if they were working... Fortunately, the shop door was closed and I was able to try to catch myself from falling with my elbow, which resulted in me rattling between the shop door and Tommy Lift tailgate all the way to the floor.

I haven’t flown in a while. Good day for eggs benny and logging a hold and an approach.

And with the field IFR, hopefully no one will taxi into my plane this time.

My record in one sitting is 16. Lucky to be alive.

Was putting the patio furniture in the garage attic when I was a 14. Dad built an "elevator". Was a track frame with a winch and a platform to get up the 12 feet. Garage roof is sloped. So I laid the table's umbrella horizontal and stood on the pole. Wasn't paying attention to how far up the platform was and there was no stop on the winch. Cable on the winch broke. Foot came off the pole. Pole cantilevered and caught my lower left jaw. About an inch from my jugular.

Blood pouring from my face. But I didn't know where. Checking tongue. Teeth. Then my thumb felt the hole in face. Only person that was home was my sister. I'm now laying down when she walks in and sees me lying down with blood everywhere. Told her to call dad. She keeps asking what happened. After a couple bouts of getting asked what happened. GET ME AN EFFING TOWEL AND CALL DAD!!!

I wish I got a picture. The scar is right in line with my jaw line so you can't even see it.

Curious what my options are for getting chipping pain fixed? The pain on my cowling is coming off at spots. Can a shop spot fix these areas Similarly the bottom of the tail is chipping as well

what kind of pain do you want to fix?

Yes, we just did a partial repaint / touch up on one of our club planes; mostly the cowling, but other bad paint spots on the flaps, ailerons, etc. A good paint shop can prep, spot print, and paint to match and it will all blend togethe. What helped us a lot was that it was a 1970's era Skyhawk. One stage / one layer, very simple paint (relatively simple). No clear coat to top coat and blend, etc.136LM After Repaint 2024 11 COPY.jpg

Looks great. Curious how much did something like run?

$4000 altogether. $2500 for the deep cleaning and ceramic coating with $1500 for the added paint work.

did the wife laugh at you?

or was she the one that drew blood .... because of something you did?
From what I know, Zeldman's wife would not have drawn blood. Too obvious. I suspect she knows how to inflict pain without leaving marks and bruises.

Ahhh... you must be married to an Asian lady...

I heard hands down the funniest interaction on the radio this evening coming back from FLA. I don’t usually LOL but this time I did.

And you’re going to leave us hanging? Where’s the LiveATC link?

ATC - What are your intentions?

Student Pilot - I want to get out of my parents basement

ugh, I listened to the tape, you can barely hear the guy talking to approach, but it went something like this...keep in mind the funny part that approach says, he actually spells out the words:

bumbling fool: uh, I, uh, uh, want, uh, uh, would like, uh, uh, flight following uh, ......
ATC: blah blah, squawk blah blah
bumbling fool: uh, I, uh, squawk blah blah
ATC: is your transponder working?
bumbling fool: uh, blah blah blah can't remember exactly what he said
ATC: reset transponder, squawk blah blah
bumbling fool: uh, uh, reset, uh, reset transponder
bumbling fool: uh, I don't know how to reset my transponder
ATC: try the "Oh En - Oh Eff Eff" switch
bumbling fool: uh, I'll try that
bumbling fool: I, uh, I don't know how to reset it, this is a new plane to me

in real time it was the funniest dang thing I ever heard, but the audio archive sux.

I haven't flown since October 19. Don't feel like it. Not sure if it's because I dislike the Skyhawk, lack of a mission, feeling dejected about my airplane. Tomorrow will break my longest streak of not flying. I'm enjoying working on the engine, posting here, and dreaming about building an RV, but just not feeling a desire to actually go fly.

I need a ride on Saturday but we still have the issue of not being able to fit in the skyhawk

Maybe we could cut your instructor's legs off or something to make him lighter. How long does it take to get a SODA?

I’m watching Savvy Aviation YouTube maintenance videos narrated by Mike Busch. Anyone else find that playback speed X 1.5 makes it sound “normal speed”?

I don't know. I kind of like the old timey grandpa feel of listening at normal speed. There are a million mile-a-minute YouTube presenters. I like being able to just relax with a pot of tea and hear about maintenance nightmares.

Getting him to “mile a minute” would need 4X.

Besides delivery style, what say the collective on content?

I love 2x videos. First for required training things. Then for most youtube instructional things. Now I wish it existed for all shows and almost all people...and I'm here where people usually talk pretty fast.

I too have long dreamnt of building an RV. Now that I am, I realize that nightmares are dreams too.

My hangar sits at a bit of an incline. It is fairly difficult pushing my plane in, especially at the edge of the hangar because the pavement has a bit of sink into the edge of the hangar, so it’s like pushing it over a hump while slight incline.

What can I do to make the is easier for me that doesn’t involve spending $2,000 on a motor tug
