Southwest Airliner Hit by Gunfire in Dallas 11/15/24

There are some pretty ghetto areas not that far from the NW end of Love... just sayin'. I've done photo work over some of the apartments up there. Wouldn't shock me to find out some foreign gangs are in the area. Nor would it shock me that some fool thought it would be cool. There's generally random gunfire almost every single night in my neighborhood in Oak Cliff and most of the time I suspect they're shooting into the air or the ground... I'm as pro-gun as you can get, but whoever did this should be tarred and feathered and locked up.

It looks like they were south flow last night. That fits with my suspicion that it might be the NW end of Love. I'd bet good money the bullet was fired from a rifle, not a pistol, and assuming it was before takeoff, it was a serious malicious attempt.

Trap doesn't do that. Very low energy and range. Somebody'd have to have been inside the fence to "pull" that off.
My sister's ex had a grandpa that has a farm and taught him how to shoot. One day the neighbor who raised gamebirds had them get out. He and his brother would shoot the birds that got their property. I asked 12 gauge or 20 gauge? I shoot 28ga for quail. His response ".308... should have seen em explode"

Dude!!! Wtf?!

He's the same idiot who was showing off his handgun at his buddies 21st. Dropped the clip pointed at his friend and pulled the trigger. There was one in the chamber.

Sadly, it’s really really hard to fix stupid

Most likely the flight was planning to depart from 13R, and if it was hit in the right side, that would strongly point to the area around Bachmann Lake Park.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. I used to go there when I was younger and watch the planes land. That place seems kind of sketchy now.

ATC audio confirms SWA2494 taxied L to 13R. Tower issued line-up and wait to 2494 on 13R, immediately followed by 2494 requesting return to gate to inspect the aircraft. Bullet strike along L seems unlikely while bullet strike in the vicinity of C10 seems more likely. Media reports that bullet struck right side below flight deck.

For those bitching about the issues in the entire state of Texas, here's a crime grid map with DAL terminal in the red circle. I guess y'all think the entire state is like Preston, Bluff View area which happens to have the highest crime rate in the STATE. Yes, even higher than S Houston if the stats are to be believed. Strongly recommend those with a problem about TX get up and get out.

The other night, I happened to get something from the hatch of my car, and put it on auto lower when I walked away. It was in my driveway, with open view to the street, and it was open from 9pm to 8am the next morning. There were tools, a pressure washer, some cans of gas, a water filter, and a couple of costly airplane slave cylinders. Not a thing was touched, nothing removed or missing. I've lived in some pretty bad places in the world. I've chosen my little slice of TX and hoping those who find it offensive leave as soon as possible. If there's any way I can personally expedite the process, just PM me, I'll get right on it.

You sound quite emotional about it. Do you need a safe space?

Texas is the US equivalent of Saudi Arabia. "Howdy Arabia", one could say.

Where can a person get a crime grid map? Something like this looks helpful when planning travel to unknown areas.

I believe SWA also had one of those pilots that can carry onboard, discharge a round through the floor before.

lol way to go the extreme end there.
True, but there ARE unwritten rules and written guidelines in the news media about things like suicide because they KNOW it can trigger copycats.

I believe that there are some things that they highlight that they should know better than to highlight. As much as it is political fodder, school shootings, and other high profile things to get notoriety are often followed by copycats and the media knows that. Some things they choose to self-censor - other things they choose to highlight.

Well, Texans get pretty worked up about their state. My brother lives in Abilene and has the star on the door, flag in the front yard, etc. He’s constantly bragging about that area. Really not sure what he sees in that place but to each his own.

Texas sucks. I hate it here. It's hot, windy, we have tornadoes, we're in a drought, traffic is bad, some areas smell like oil, other's like manure. What I'm saying is, it sucks here... please don't move here!!

That being said, if you insist on moving here, we will welcome you. Here's a map to help you out.

Can he get more than two sentences into a conversation about anything without bringing Texas into it?

Judging Texas on Abilene is like judging California on Porterville.
