the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

I voted this morning. Wife voted early, but I just wanted to do it on Election Day with the walking into the church basement turned polling place, etc.

As odd as this place gets sometime it’s still a place where you get to vote.

I’m grateful for that.

Also grateful that these &@$:!! ads and texts will go away. :)

Says who? I was getting ads from Wisconsin while I live in GA. If they can't get the state right, I have no expectation that they'll get the date right. :frown2:

Amen on the fundraising texts and emails going away. I surrendered my mail ballot so I could vote in person at the precinct this morning like the olden days. Felt good, it’s been awhile.

My wife voted a couple of weeks ago, and stood in line well over an hour do so it. I voted this morning with maybe a five minute wait. ONE place to vote early versus dozens of places to vote on the day… seems like an easy choice to me.

Looks like there’s only one piece of anti-candidate propaganda in our mailbox today. Yesterday I think there were ten. I’ve put filter rules in place to block the campaign emails and phone calls; those have been nearly 100% effective.

I’m just happy that we will see a stop to the incessant nonstop barrage of campaign commercials every few minutes on TV and everywhere else. Now they can go back to the regular non-political crop of scams and blatant BS.

I fully expect to see people starting to campaign for 2028 any day now

That's funny, my voting location was the same: A church basement!
And I don't envy you being in a swing state! Out here in IL candidates don't waste a dime advertising to me on TV or mailers. But I hear a quite different story from my family in Michigan :D

It’s “Superman” or “Wonder Woman” Election Day.
Both are comic characters.

My wife and I voted last week. In and out, no crowd, no line. We always vote early.

And often...

I tried twice to early vote and the lines were incredible. Went today and it was easy in & out with no real wait time ...

Yo, @SixPapaCharlie , you best get over here and defend yourself lest ye get written in. Or campaign if you want to. It could be a close one. I’m starting a write in @Sac Arrow campaign. I can hardly wait for the debate.
He doesn't stand a chance. It's two against one. Just ask @eman1200.

today I thought I hit a bird on short final. upon further inspection, I in fact did not hit a bird on short final.

what else ya got that's not quite worth it's own thread?
I finally installed a NEW set of spark plugs in my personal bucket of bolts Arrow II .. didn't sandblast, gap, ohms check like usual

idle question: do you normally check new plugs or just assume they are perfect?

Same here. Did my civic duty on my way to work. In and out in 7 minutes.

I'm not sure when it was coined, but in 2016 some people were wishing for the Sweet Meteor of Death

Additional explanation would be SZ material. Even mentioning SMOD could be considered SZ.

Having had the fun of troubleshooting equipment with new cables or new batteries, I've learned to check new stuff and not assume the new stuff works or meets all important adjustments.

related question: does each sparkplug make/model have just one gap spec or are the gaps different for different engines?

yeah, I could just get off my fat behind and reach for my service manual... sorry to be so lazy

So bi-planes would be the independents?
All are welcome.

Already bored with election coverage, I was trying to imagine what a typical press conference with this guy would be like. So much better!

imagine being the guy's press secretary...

Nothing to worry about. Medicare open enrollment is open; there will be plenty of material.

yup - getting lots and lots of junk mail about medicare advantage plans. (>-{

edit: yes, I admit to being that old

Wouldn’t p**s me off so much if anyone in the house were actually eligible…

That’s OK. I shred most of that crap and it goes into the compost. Next year’s crop of veggies and tobacco will benefit from their waste of money and resources.

AND all of those obscure but expensive treatment diseases.

My teacher friend told me she held an election in her classroom to teach kids (6 years old) about voting.

On the ballot: lunch
Candidates: pasta vs cheeseburgers

Despite the lobbying dollars behind Big Pasta, the cheeseburgers won on account of "they taste better".

If only our elections could be so civilized!

(I got the photo as proof of voting security and integrity)

You darn kids...

I used eHealthmedicareplans.com for a medicare advantage plan. Not 100% what I wanted but it'll do for a start.

Didn't the last 50 years whizz by.??
I got an AARP mailer the other day, inviting me to sign up for various things. Dude, I'm still in my forties! At least have the respect to wait until I hit the half-century mark before shilling your wares!
