Gami gas has arrived...

Looks like apple juice; I would have thought they would have required a color to be added, as they do blue for LL.

And then this... The cliff notes of the .PDF

* Free STC for RHV and E16 based aircraft.
* Free I.A. Signoff Saturday Nov. 2, from 9am – 6pm at RHV
* Fuel credit voucher for those RHV- and E16-based owners who previously paid for their STCs! *Use by Nov. 23, 2024.
* Free G100UL fuel, up to 25 gallons for bay area airport based aircraft if you register and fly into RHV on Nov. 2, 2024.

Just got an email from my previous EAA chapter. It included this document: G1000U Promotion

Those who've already gotten the STCs will get a voucher for 50 gallons of G100UL.

(I caught my mistake before I posted. I originally said: G1000UL, Who wouldn't want 1000 octane gas?)

At Reid Hillview. Someone on Facebook reported it was 6.99 a gallon. Cheaper than I thought considering UL94 there is 7.59.

I started a thread here a month ago regarding price of the New UL Fuel. Most members seemed to think UL would be higher. Glad your post gives an example of the contrary

I suspect it is just an introductory price.

New STC purchasers at KRHV and E16 get FULL refunds of the STC purchase price and an AI will be made available on 02 November to sign off the 337.
The offers are good until midnight 01 November.

Run! Don't walk.

green dye? uh oh…. I’m slightly blue/green colorblind but not enough to need a SODA

Saw this on beechtalk and thought it might be of interest here:

These prices are incorrect. As of Wednesday, Oct. 30 avgas prices at RHV were
UL94 Self-Service: $6.99/gallon.
UL94 Truck Service: $7.29/gallon.
G100UL Truck Service $6.99/gallon.
G100UL self-service is not offered.

The prices are posted on the airport's website: https://airports.santaclaracounty.gov/rhv-fuel-prices

In response to an earlier question, the fuel is not sold at cost. It has an equivalent markup to UL94.

Here are some comparable fuel prices in the south Bay Area on 3-Nov-2024 (per ForeFlight)...

The good sign is that there's a moderate chance G100UL could be as cheap or cheaper than 100LL once everyone is running it and economy of scale kicks in.
Or that may be a pipe dream. The GAMI fuel had been sitting in storage for months with no sellers. None of us here know their economics--they may be selling at a steep discount just to get it out into the marketplace. If/when it takes hold in the market--especially if 100LL is discontinued and no longer competes--we could see the price rise, instead.

Both possibilities. The airport manager did say that they were taking the same markup as they do on 94UL. I'm quite certain that whatever logisitics got it out there took their cut. I doubt the blender would be willing to sell it below cost, although I could see them possibly doing that to "break the dam" as it were. I suppose it's also possible that GAMI might've subsidized it along the way. My completely uneducated guess is that the real price at RHV is somewhere between $7-$8. Way better than the $11-12 some were speculating. I'm hopeful that once there are multiple blenders and transportation cost is lowered, the price will be similar to 100LL, or at least within a dollar.

Which is what George and Gami have said all along. But the glass half full people (I'm usually one of them) scoffed at that notion and continue to do so.

The price delta between 100LL and Jet A is amazingly large.

A good deal on Jet A nowadays is $3 and change.

A guy who flies out of Reid-Hillview posted this video on YouTube raising concerns about the effect of G100 on paint and fuel O-rings. I thought it was interesting but have no idea how this one example compares to the testing program done by GAMI and the FAA.

Not a clean, rigorous test, but it does beg a response from the people who (I hope) conducted the stringent testing of the UL fuel.

Watching the video, I noticed that the paint issue does not seem to be with the top coat, but the attachment to the metal. And the problems started at edges and scratches/cracks. Wonder if this is not an issue with the primer.

In cars, lacquer primers were used well after the top coats were all 2-part.
