It’s tracking further south than the original prediction. Sarasota is forecasting 110K

TPA is reporting winds out of the NE, which would coincide with the center going to pass just south. Almost sucking the water out of Tampa Bay versus pushing it in. Might be the saving grace for much of Tampa. Going to be bad for Sarasota and others south.

Interesting looking at the current radar, the mass of convection is on the north side, with a large surge of dry air on the south side.

Storm is losing steam. Seeing wind forecasts of 80mph in our area. That will be messy but survivable.
Will make landfall between Sarasota and Venice. Mostly rural areas inland from there. We may have dodged a bullet.

Hope that means your hangar and plane will be okay!

Landfall at Sarasota/Siesta Key. Venice will take the worst of the surge.

Good news is Tampa Bay actually has reverse surge. The wind is literally sucking water out of the bay. Millions of people will be spared. Great news for @tsts4!

Bad news is the worst winds are on the north side. We'll see 100mph at my home drome. My old hangar won't survive that.

Yeah we’ve been watching it closely. We’re definitely dodging the surge bullet. Now it’s all about the winds, I’m especially worried about our roof.

Landfall was 5 miles west of Siesta Key which is basically Sarasota.

Winds are much lower than expected. We really dodged a bullet for the most part.

Hate to see what Sarasota to Venice looks like. That will have to wait for daybreak. Prayers for people fighting for their lives as we speak.

Our county (St. Lucie) was hit with multiple tornadoes today. Our airpark is okay so far. A former neighbor is in the hospital after the mobile home park he moved to a few miles north of us was hit by a tornado. Reports are 25+ dead.

We’re on an extended road trip in California and all we can do is hope for the best. If things happen that I really should be at home for, my wife and the pups will stay with relatives and I’ll marathon it back home.

The wind on the ground is a little over 100 mph, which is almost above Va. That’s sobering.

Just lost power.
Lost power here about an hour ago. Wind seems to be dying down; I think we're past the worst of it. A humongous live oak in the neighbors yard just fell. Root system was saturated from a foot of rain.

Waiting for the sun to come up. Heavy winds at my place, about 70 knots, which is pretty high for as far inland as we are. A foot of rain easily. I had some minor damage I’m aware of. Power has been out since 7pm last night.

Still windy and raining in Flagler (FIN). No damage I can see, but it's still dark. Power and Internet never lost.

Sun is up. No damage beyond what I already knew about. Could have been worse.

Waiting on word from my cousin who is in Sarasota just two blocks outside the mandatory evacuation zones.
Hoping for the best on here.

Tim

That’s good news.. Hopefully those new hangars hold up let me know if you make it out to the airport. I’m unfortunately out of town for work.

Ed: After living through many hurricanes in the FL panhandle (Ivan, Sally were the most destructive for us), I can quote Tom Petty, "The waiting is the hardest part". Hoping that your airplane survives intact.

My brother’s place lost power for a minute or two. Winds were sporting:

So the friend we're staying with back in Apollo Beach made a quick walk around of our house and boat and it looks like there's no additional damage from Milton. However there's no power so we're staying put in Orlando until Friday morning. As for my hangar I’m reasonably confident it’s fine too. I feel like Neo from the first Matrix movie dodging bullets at this point.

Good to know, thanks. If my house floods badly. I'm fixing it up and selling or renting it. Ain't nobody got time for this.

Good plan! My brother used to live in Fort Myers Beach, FL. His home was flooded by 4 feet of salt water during Hurricane Ian. Complete loss! Also a 10 year old car. Also his boat. He made it out with his RV trailer and his Ford 350 pickup to tow it with. Long story he now lives in Wilmington NC in a new house and is very worried about his friends in the FMB neighborhood.

His goal with that move sure must not have been to get away from tropical weather!
I grew up in Wilmington, and have lost track of my count of tropical storms. Have seen stars at night looking up through the eyes of a few

Greetings from Downtown St. Petersburg. Rode out Milton at home (non-evacuation zone, post-Andrew construction).

Albert Whitted/KSPG has major damage. Many hangars destroyed (along with their contents, whether it was a plane or sofas).

Not a great feeling. IMG_9294.jpegIMG_9301.jpegIMG_9305.jpegIMG_9309.jpegIMG_9311.jpegIMG_9313.jpegIMG_9315.jpegIMG_9318.jpegIMG_9321.jpegIMG_9322.jpeg
