Thread about actual beer

For Aviation themed beers it's hard to beat

Our logo features the F4U Corsair airplane which is the Connecticut State Airplane and a great testament to the spirit of the state. Because we feel the community is important, our company is highlighting some of the state’s great industries and adventure sports by featuring them on our cans. These people and places have not only inspired our own lives and the life of the brewery, but they also honor the places we’ve come to live, love, and grow in. We hope you enjoy your time here and we look forward to serving you again in the future.

I don’t name any of my beers, but I have a dirty blonde pale ale recipe that I really want to name after @eman1200

After a brewery tour, I learned that O.B. beer has a German brewmaster and he strictly follows Reinheitsgebot.

Contrary to what every GI has claimed for 70 years in Korea, O.B. does not contain formaldehyde.

Aussie Beer, especially the lager.

XXXX is good. Brewed in Queensland.

Which reminds me of a joke told down in New South Wales: "Why is it called XXXX? Because in Queensland, they're too stupid to spell BEER."

Apparently there are places that distill beer into alcohol/whiskey:

I might have to try one of those.

Our fourth release in the collection, Charbay's R5 Lot No. 4 is double-distilled from Bear Republic Brewery's award-winning Racer 5 IPA beer (7% ABV). Marko chose this full-bodied IPA for its aromatic hops and smooth, clean finish, forming the base of R5's unique profile.

Its fourth release, Lot No. 4 was a 10 barrel release, distilled in March 2013 and aged for 29 months in French oak. It has an intensely hoppy nose mixed with orange and clove, and sweet molasses, smoky notes on the palate.

So…. While we’re debating…

Q: Is beer food?

A: No, it is not.

To wit: food needs to do two things:

a). Sustain life. I grant you, beer will do this

b). Form a turd. This it will not.

Therefore, beer is not food. Sorry…

My favorite. Fresh beer.

I heard today is beer is the working man's Gatorade.
It was, at its creation, safer to drink than water. The residual alcohol, combined with the boiling of the wort, eliminated biological impurities.

Bring me simple, light, lagers…ice cold of course. Years of playing around with all those weird boutique brews and stinking IPAs, provided me headaches, other allergy reactions and an overall never ending disappointment. Up in Colorado, for example, those liberal freak tards give me the stink eye when I order Coors Light. I say to the nay sayers… up your bee-hind Jo-Boo !

From Australia, I remember one called Toohey's. "I'll have a Toohey's or two!" Not bad at all. There was another that you will not find in Australia, only in the US. It's been so long since I've had it that I don't remember what it's called. Their slogan in the US was "Its Australian for beer!" No, it isn't.

Then, the first time I was in Germany (1971) there was a brand of beer that was heavily advertised. Shultise (sp?) beer. The ads said, "Was trinken wir? Shultise beer!" Worst rotgut I have ever tasted. It had an aftertaste that wouldn't quit. I have not seen it since (and don't miss it at all).

Fosters

Fosters is sort of looked down on by real Australians. Tooheys isn't bad but I prefer Victoria Bitters. They also have Pure Blonde, which is an equal to Michelob Ultra, except that it actually tastes like beer.

Speaking of which, I had a business class flight on Quantas once where we unluckily got a crotchety old man as our flight attendant. He cut us off after six VB's. I mean c'mon, man, this is business class. We paid for it.

The thing about Quantas is that for your flight attendant, you either get the crotchety old men, post-menopausal women, or young gay men. At least the young gay men will take care of you.

Hock Tooheys?

You are correct. VB is much better than Tooheys.

I haven't ridden Quantas in over 10 years, so I'll have to take your word on that.

Update:
The last 2 years I've been brewing another "brown" beer.
It's really good, but one of my neighbors is no longer talking to me.
Which is also really good.
It's a German beer called "Tiger Tank".
Yes, Like the WWII weapon.
Apparently, brewing and consuming it makes me a Nazi.
So I sing this when I drink it:

I was recently introduced to Krefelder. It did not suck. I did not know what it was when I ordered it and it was a pleasant surprise.
