Near miss/ CFIT

Damn near perfect recovery. Person must have some aerobatic training to pull off that maneuver. Most of us would have been dead in that scenario.

They crashed...they just didn't realize it. ;) Time to reupholster the seats...they would never get the odor out otherwise.

Play that with frequent stops, and note the distance from the plane to its shadow. Amazing they made it.

Are we sure it was controlled flight? Was it a wing over or a stall/spin/recovery?

Where's the video? All I see are three still photos.

FAA registry shows it's a C152 owned by what appears to be an FBO; and the FlightAware track and flight info shows lots of short flights. Probably for training and rental.

In response to kyleb above, plus the comment by the person who took the video, it looks like stall and spin -- either because he turned too sharply and late, or just because his little 152 ran out of lift and airspeed in a place he shouldn't have been in the first place. Whatever, he/they are the luckiest pilots around. I imagine the FBO would like to know -- maybe someone has told them by now.

I'm going to look at seat stains in rentals differently from now on....and look for significant dihedral on their 152 and 172 units...or "speed wrinkles" on top when checking fuel level.

Disable any spam blockers or try a different browser if waiting doesn't do the trick. It's an amazing little video, short but terrifying for the pilot I'm sure.

Wonder what the flight school or rental owner did after seeing the footage.
