No, I deleted it because it interfered with too many sites that I wanted to visit. It's easier to X out of all the popups than it is to disable the blocker on every other site I visit.
I pay a subscription fee for several sites that I visit often, but I'm not going to buy a subscription to every site I get re-directed to that I will probably only visit once or very rarely.

Have you considered installing more adblockers? I have three. I'll install a fourth if I see an ad.

That helps to keep you from seeing ads, but doesn't it also make it even harder to visits sites you want to visit?

Pick your poison.

In my experience there are far fewer sites that absolutely refuse to allow ad blockers than otherwise. YMMV...you've apparently had a different experience.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: I use three browsers. Chrome for YT (with three separate adblockers), Brave, and Firefox. Brave blocks basically every ad and pop-up. While on brave, I click a link. Most of the time (90%), it works. Sometimes, I have to F5. Very rarely, the site doesn't work and I leave.

No. You enable pop ups for those particular sites where you have to enter information, or what not.

Brave for YT, Firefox for everything else. Edge if I have to automate (I have a couple customers that require web interaction for invoice submission, etc.) with Selenium.

If a site is using pop-ups for sign in... I go to a different site. Some sites require java for sign-in, but I wouldn't consider them pop-ups. Because nothing pops up.

I have run into a couple dot gov and customer sites that had pop ups. I sorta can't tell my customers to **** off. lol

Not really. I primarily use Safari and if one of my oft-visited sites doesn't like the ad blocker I check the box "settings for this website" and deselect it and I don't have to worry about it on follow-on visits to that site.

I could have said "Ethan Zuckerkman, the inventor of the pop up ad", but most people would just read it and promptly forget it. This way you have a better chance of remembering it, and someday, you will be able to show someone how knowledgeable l you are.
 
I have an ad blocker installed in my brain. It’s quite effective. Been working faithfully since I started watching tv and reading mags as a kid.
 
Now I'm sorry I started this thread.
I have received more pop-up ads telling me that their ad blocker can stop annoying pop-up ads than I did all pop up ads prior.

How many do you have and how much did you pay for them?
I might be wrong, but I suspect the answer to the second question is ZERO.

Why do you think they are free? My theory is that the ad blockers are tracking everything you do and selling that information to whoever will pay for it.
As has been said many times here and elsewhere: "You are not the customer. You are the product"

I prefer to just X out of apps that won't let me continue without disabling my ad-blocker, or requiring an email address to continue. On the other hand, I do pay to subscribe to several news sites that I want to read.

And how does that help them when I never see any ads? Let's say they are selling my info. They are also blocking the ads which are purchasing that very info. I'm sure each one will let some ads through, but they are not letting the SAME ads through. Thus, I never see any ads. I do not use that browser to examine my email or perform online banking. The information those blockers can extract is limited.

Fair enough, but I dislike ads, pop-ups, and auto-playing videos that interrupt my browsing.
 
I never heard of him until this thread, and searching his name.

As punishment for inventing pop up ads, he deserves to be locked in a soundproof room and then forced to listen to Yoko Ono "singing" to accordions and bagpipes for the rest of his days.
 
I have ublock origin running on chrome on a mac. I only have one site that won't let me see content due to it. I gave that site bogus email and it works fine now.

I read the thread title in a hurry, and thought he was referring to a woman... "May Ethan Zuckerman." Thought the OP was DG, for a moment.....:)
