Zagg Invisible Shield- PIREPS??

Anyone use the Zagg invisible shield product on their GPS??

I just ordered the product for my 496, I'll provide a pirep when installed.

Probably not the same exact brand but I've used similar products on PDAs and they work pretty well if you manage to install them without any air bubbles. IMO the greatest benefit is for devices that go into pockets and get tossed into briefcases. I don't normally treat my GPS that way and AFaIK have never suffered any damage to one that a protector would have prevented. They do generally decrease contrast and/or brightness a small amount, at least under certain lighting conditions. OTOH, for some devices they can actually improve readability by reducing glare if the device has a highly reflective screen.

I am puzzled by Zagg's claim that they invented and patented this concept in 2005. I purchased and was using PDA screen protectors before 2000 IIRC. Also according to this web page you can make your own for a lot less money.

I use something like that on my Treo it seems to be ok no issues seeing the screen,

On my Sony Alpha A100 and A900 cameras I'm using a similar product. From Ritz Camera Stores, UPC 0 81097 81028 4. The package contains 15 protective Film Sheets, 3 Wet Optical Cleaning Tissues, 3 Dry Optical Cleaning Tissues, 1 Squeegee Card.
The screens will fit "up to 5" digital screens." I think the package was $19.95.

I'm now less concerned when standers-by prefer to ga-ga my latest images(and put their dirty fingers on the screen).

There is another product from the PDA days, whose name eludes me at this moment.
I have the ones with the PALM brand (expensive) because they were the only ones I could find at the time. I first used them on my Newton's and my GPS 195. Now they go on my 496 and digital camera displays. They do an excellent job of preventing the screen from being scratched. The trick to putting them on with out bubbles is to apply a couple drops of soapy water slowly spread the screen saver across the screen, squeegeeing the soapy water from one side to the other.

A900, as well? Cool. I've been lugging an A100 around for a bit over 2 years. Works great. In spite of my dropping it out of the backpack onto concrete a year ago. I think I bent it a touch as I have to apply Kentucky windage to center shots. And the sensor shaker goes longer than I think it should when I turn it on. And there's a high pitched whine when the LCD comes on. I might break down and have it checked after I get back from Sydney in a little over a week. Wouldn't want it to die on me during the trip this summer. In other words, any problems I've had with it have been self inflicted.

I think I own the first A900 delivered to Maine. I "pre-ordered" it in July, knowing that national release and shipping was not to occur until October 20. I bought it through SonyStyle.com. Not long after I had difficulty getting into my online account because the system kept not recognizing my username or password. There were numerous e-mails, more than a few telephone calls to customer service. "I think, Mr. Crute, it should work when we conclude this conference." It didn't!

Finally, on October 07 and a very long customer service telephone conference, the system recognized my regular username/password. Bingo! About four hours later I received an e-mail which indicated that the A900 body had been shipped -- special handling -- and that it should be delivered on or about October 10. And it arrived as stated.

The next day I went to South Portland -- Maine Mall -- with the camera around my neck as I went into a Ritz Camera Center. I was accosted by two sales personnel who exclaimed, "Where did you get that camera? Can we look at it? It's not supposed to be available until late October." I think Sony bumped up my ship date to appease that pain in the a$$ who's been bugging us since late July."

Of course, that's only my suspicion.
