Young Girl Dreams of Being a Pilot

FedEx has some soul seeking going on internally about their long term contract and their pensions.

They’re kinda last man standing in that regard. Think UPS even voted those away.

FedEx was the place everyone gah-gah’ed over flying for in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Now with the human self-loading cargo carriers doing self-invested retirements and profit sharing, while FedEx still has a (capped) single dollar amount pension that doesn’t adjust for inflation — folks over there are thinking they might be needing to change something.

But they have a lot of years left on that contact and little leverage.

Fascinating to watch the biz change over decades.

Back in the 1980's and 1990's military pilots felt bad for their squadron mates that went to FedEx. It wasn't until the 2000's when the passenger carriers tanked and cargo became king. With the latest contract improvements, the passenger carriers have jumped back up.

Yeah I might be off by a decade. Ha. But yeah. It all goes in waves.
