We had the privilege of taking over 30 eager, enthusiastic kids for airplane rides last week. These kids completed reading all 20 books in this year's Mark Twain Reading Program, and an airplane ride is part of their reward for reading all the books and making book reports. We combine this with the Young Eagles Program and it works out really well. These are 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

This is a project that is near and dear to my heart, and taking these kids (they are really GOOD kids) is a joy and a delight. :)

Attached are a few photos.

I love it! And they see that Girls Fly Too! Hopefully a bunch of future 99s in that group.

Yep, they saw that 50% of the pilots that day were women. :D Several of the girls said they hope to become pilots some day. Hopefully some of them will. :)

And I've had two women approach me about next years Girl Scout Aeronautical Badge Day!

Found another photo of some of the kids that went flying. I'm not much taller than these 6th grade kids. :D

That's awesome man! Hopefully some of those fine young women will get their PPLs and more! :)

The one with her right hand on the yoke is grinning from ear to ear.....

Several of the kids said they wanted to become pilots after they went flying with us. I hope some of them find a way to do that. :)

Bruce, she was soooooo excited! The entire time she was flying the airplane she was grinning. What a joy to watch that, and be a part of it.

That's great! I can't wait to take some kids on a Young Eagle flight!
Looking forward to hearing about it when you do. :)

These kids got to go flying as a reward for reading. It was interesting hearing the kids discussing some of the books that they had read.
