Well, I'm no urologist, but a nonstop erection damn sure doesn't sound like prolonged numbness of the genitalia to me.

Possibly if it could be reasonably foreseen. But it's an aftermarket seat and BMW is only named (probably, assuming the seat wasn't offered through the dealer in some fashion) because they have much deeper pockets. Tort law makes it advantageous to go after everybody in sight because even if you only contributed 1% of the negligence, you can be hit for lots of money.

That's right. The urologist in that interview stated that he did not understand how the plaintiff's complaint could have been a result of the seat design but numbness is a common problem related to (mostly bicycle) seats.

So BMW was negligent for not making it impossible to change out the stock seat for an aftermarket product.

Thinking a bit about the medical condition I am unable to get a good handle on a general mechanism, so yeah, i did jump the gun on that. I wonder if the guy had some sort of gonadal tumor? Such a beast could secrete NO as a result of an inflammation brought on by the motorcycle ride.
