As my Odyssey continues, one hurdle after another, I have finally come within sight of my check ride. All the requirements have been met, finally. Then, another curve is thrown my way. My written test had expired October 30. So, I stopped studying for the verbal, and started prepping for my written again.

I had gotten 90% on my first written two years ago. I took the written again this morning, I came out with a 92% score. This can only mean that I have gotten 2% smarter in the last two years, or I have only increased my flying knowledge by 2%.

Anyway, I passed. Now all I have to do is try and grasp what my flight instructor is trying to teach me, then it is my check ride. He thinks it might be before Christmas.

I will be so happy when this is all said and done. I will be able to sit down and read a book that is other than aviation, I hope.

Good deal on the test score. Just be patient and keep studying for your oral exam and chair flying the various maneuvers and procedures. Chair flying will go a long way toward improving your skills and preparing you for the flight portion of the check ride.

90%, and two years later with a little review you get 92%, excellent retention!!
Must mean you are ready for that oral.

Thanks, I wish that was all true. Two weeks ago I started at the very beginning of the ASA test prep. I went through the entire book and answered every one of the questions. I completed the last one Thursday night, then went back and re-read all the chapter information pages.

I took the test the very next morning while it was still fresh in my mind.

While going through all those questions again, I was surprised at how much I had actually forgotten in just 24 months. I'll be 66 in just a few weeks, it's a whole lot different than when I was young.
