Woooshhh... Out the window goes....

Put my hat on tha package tray in Debs Luscombe. Warm day had the windows open.
At rotation, my hat decided that it had had enough of this flying thing, and departed through the open window, on the right side.
There was a Bonanza departing behind us, and I figured my hat would be shredded by the prop. But it was still laying on the centerline when we got back. none the worse for wear.

Flying an open-frame pusher gyrocopter keeps these precautions top of mind, especially for anything hard or heavy enough to damage the prop. Fortunately, there's no glareshield, no cupholders, no glovebox.

Most of my summer wardrobe includes cargo shorts with velcro closures for that very reason.
