Wonder what else Boeing has in the pipe...

The latency numbers for bouncing data via RF through a high-altitude aircraft are much MUCH lower than through even an LEO spacecraft. And way lower than a geo-sync spacecraft.
 
Read a comment from some SWA mucky-muck that they are open to putting another type certificate into the current fleet mix. My guess is there is something to replace the 737 in the works, unless he meant international wide-body.

my understanding was they were going to start working on the 737 replacement in 2012 or 2013

They're buying Airtran - that means they're going to get a bunch of 717s.
