I bought a set of home entertainment speakers about 6 years ago. They came with a transmitter to hook up to your home stereo. You could then put the speakers somewhere else in the house and listen to the stereo.

I actually used them hooked up to the base station for CTAF at the airport. Put one outside on the patio and one in my office.

Something has now gotten tired and they don't work so well so it is time to replace them. Unfortunately, technology has moved on. All wireless speakers now seem to be bluetooth and come without transmitter.

What do I need to get as a bluetooth transmitter that can be hooked up to a airband radio speaker output connection?

You stream the music to them from your smart phone or tablet, often using some type of Internet radio app, such as Pandora or Slacker.

I piped the air band radio into one of the four audio inputs on the house intercom. I can punch it up from any room now.

This isn't intended for music. It is for the base station radio at the airport to make it hearable wirelessly at locations where the base station speaker can't be heard. The audio source is the base station radio. It is a unit that is normally panel mounted in an aircraft but is mounted in a base station enclosure and does not have bluetooth. There is no available wiring from it to the desired speaker locations. I need to find a bluetooth transmitter that will accept input from the speaker out connections on the back of the base station enclosure.

I stand corrected, but by the time you add another part to the mix, it probably doesn't make sense. On the other hand, I love my Bluetooth speakers and use them every day to play music around the house, so if you were looking for something that could serve both purposes, this might be the way to go.

Thanks everyone. It looks like there are multiple solutions out there. I guess that I didn't ask google the right question!
