WingX for free for CFI's

Still waiting here also. I am sure they are not in a hurry to give away something for free.

Keep in mind this is a small company. I asked for mine very early and it took about a week. I expected that.

I am not upset about it or anything. I realize that this should be low on the priority list. If and when it happens, it happens. I don't have it now, so won't miss it if I never get it.

Anybody hear back from Hilton yet? Not me but not concerned, just curious.

I sent mine in on 12/31 I think I got the email back from them on 1/6

Weird since I sent mine in on 12/26. Oh well, sent it in again. After that, not going to bother any more.

So, I heard from Hilton today with the free account. The person sending it to me said they were having issues with gmail email accounts. Not sure what that would have to do with anything, but all is well now. So, if you don't hear back in a reasonable period of time, something may be up with your email.

I submitted a gmail account and have heard nothing so far. Doesn't really matter as playing with I I decided ForeFlight is better. I can't believe it came down to airport thumbnails but it did. I really really use the little thumbnail that shows where the FBO is located. Wing X does me no good if required info is not displayed.

I only saw this thread today and submitted my info, but I also used a gmail account. Trying various services. Even the free fltplango app has diagrams with the FBOs though, so if WingX doesn't have them I might not use it much.

I have been iflightplanner and iflightplanner.com so far. Only the free version on the iPad. It seems to have enough in it for the usual VFR stuff. The Premium version offers more. You might want to check that out also.

Trying it now. Strangely I already had an account but can't remember using it in the past...

But do they keep them up to date when a FBO either goes out of business or changes hands ?

I know the airport diagrams update every so often, but as far as if they correct the FBO information when one changes, I don't know. Do you know of an FBO which has changed hands lately? I'll check it out.

Probably sending the messages from generic mail accounts thru a service provider and getting filtered by DMARC. One of many possibilities but lots of places being caught by it.

In Oshkosh KOSH there were two FBOs a year ago, merging into one, Basler. Foreflight knows this.

In Santa Fe KSAF the FBO changed names, becoming Landmark, last summer. Foreflight still thinks it is called Santa Fe Air Center.

Fltplango shows one FBO for KOSH, Basler, but it doesn't locate it on the map. It shows Landmark and Santa Fe Aero but the information for Santa Fe Aero is blank, as in no fuel prices. Neither FBO is on the map. Hmmm...

You should always at least dual source your information, I have seen sources that update their data regularly, others not so often an others not at all, particularly when it comes to those popup TFRs, occasionally weather reports as well.

In the past (before the tablet and smartphones days) I had very little information on where the FBOs were. AccuQwik sometime published a map but only if the FBOs paid for it. So any information is an improvement.

If I recall correctly, KSAN has only one FBO, now called Landmark, previously Santa Fe Air. The similarly named Santa Fe Aero seems to be a separate business offering flight instruction.

If I got that right, it sounds like Fltplango has more up to date info than Foreflight re business names, although Foreflight has the advantage of showing their locations on the thumbnails.

I have received my free code but don't know if I should download for android. The reviews are not great but they are all from 2012 and before. Anyone tried android. I have used ipad version before.

I couldn't find any android aviation apps worth a crude.

Smart marketing ,give a product to the CFIs for free, then they can push it to other pilots, initial training,BFRs, .

Yes, either smart marketing, or desperation in a declining market share. It is for sure one or the other, but I couldn't even make a wild guess as to which one.
