I believe their was a time when you had to display a FAA or CAB sticker on the back window or your aircraft that listed when the last annual was done. When did they stop using the window sticker for a Annual inspection, and why?

Why?

What point does it serve, the important info is in your logs, I also don't need to be sticking and peeling stupid stickers on my plane.

Never heard of that. It used to be that the airworthiness certificate was dated. The CAB never had anything to do with registering aircraft. Perhaps you meant the CAA.

Can't say I have ever seen a annual inspection sticker. Seen plenty of state registration stickers.

I do not know the time period that the FAA stopped requiring the A&E to place a sticker on the aircraft.

But I do know at one time they did. And it was a long time ago.

so....maybe you just can't remember that far back? :D

Ma. Doesn't care if the inspection was done, they want their exist tax every year, and provide you with a sticker.

Doesn't sound like somewhere you would want to register your plane.

No taxes on aircraft, aircraft parts, or labor. Yearly reg fee (and sticker) not based on value of aircraft, and isn't too much.

My property tax OTOH...

Not too shabby.

I still think NH is the best choice for registering planes though.

How much is MAs yearly take?

I bought my first plane in 1974 and I've never had an inspection sticker.

Are you sure you're not thinking about a customs sticker?

Typical training aircraft SEL under 3,500 is $165 a year. I figured since there was no sales tax or exice tax, when I bought, it would take 21 years to reach what might have been said tax. Not a bad deal considering but then like every other gov't entity, they keep trying to get more.
Ma DOT runs the program through the Registry. Like the Registry, the rule is if your plane is in the state more than 30 consecutive days, it should be registered.

I've got my NH use sticker stuck to my 172. It didn't take long for them to find me parked on their soil. I tried everything to get out of it because the airplane is still registered in KS and I live in MA. They wouldn't back down. I guess it's still pretty cheap compared to most aviation expenses.
