Why are the LPV approaches going away?

Does anyone know why the FAA is replacing RNAV vertical guidance approaches with non-vertical guidance approaches? LPV -> LP Back to the old chop and drop flying.

I fly all over the US for a living and I promise you LPV approaches are not going away. If anything, they’re increasing.

Explains a lot or at least something.

Well, it explains why the government won't allow autonomous vehicles ;-)

Looking at how state government has dealt with hybrid cars and some of the local follies with parking and automatic speed enforcement makes his theory not all that far-fetched. 'Maintenance of revenue' is a strong motivator for state and local decision-makers.
