What's the nastiest job in Aviation

Anyone ever done de-icing? Nasty stuff...but better than doing lavs...

I spent 25 years in the regional airline industry, I'd rather drive the blue water truck than the de-ice rig.

Cleaning up the vomit all over the instrument panel on a Malibu. They blew it into the throttle quadrant and even inside of the right control wheel shaft that the medalion missing. It never stopped smelling. It got the nick name vomit comet.

Anyone ever worked with the stripper in the small aluminum can with the brush attached to the top. The stripper is yellow, very effective, nicknamed elephant snot. This stuff burns like a b when on the skin but it does not kick in for about ten seconds.

Remember that firefighting c-130 that went down because the wings snapped off? We had to strip our entire fleets' butterfly fittings (area where wings attach to center wing). When doing the bottom, I thought I covered all exposed skin but quickly realized I guess I hadn't. They stuff was flinging everywhere and burning me up. It was for a good cause though.

That's why whenever I work with stripper I make a pitcher of lemonade. You can drink it and neutralize stripper splashes with it.:yesnod:

I had a poor guy come in on a DA40 with his friend. Pilot guy said the air was a little rough but not too bad. His friend wasn't looking great, so he was holding a barf bag, ready for what could happen. The guy makes it into the traffic pattern, to final, to the landing... and as soon as the wheels his the ground the passenger lost it all over the airplane. Vomit was everywhere. It was on the canopy, on the pane, on the seats.... on the passenger, a little on the pilot. Oh man it was BAD. Felt bad for those guys. Fortunately all I had to do was supply the cleaning supplies, the passenger cleaned it all up.

I've done my share of nasty jobs but none of them in aviation. I was in the the water and SEWER construction biz for years and that can get nasty. Nothing that doesn't wash off, though. Did fiberglass work for years before that and that is nastier.

Yeah, wasn't thinking lemonade when in the presence of strippers

Not to keep this going unbearably long, but I was seriously wondering if I should google "stripper spashes" or if I was better off not knowing. Given that it was Henning's post, I was concerned.

Yup.. Back when I lived in Miami ,I worked at Dolphin Boats building new hulls..... I HATED fiberglass and its associated itching...:mad2::mad2::eek:..

As a contractor now, I have to deal with fiberglass insulation from time to time... I buy a few bottles of baby powder and coat myself with it and it seems to help a little.. But it still sucks... Thank god the 2012 IBC codes pretty much outlaw fiberglass and require sprayed in foam insulation..:)
