Anyone know definitively what year Beech changed the power quadrant layout in the Barons and Bo's?

Particularly interested in when they moved the gear switch to the left side.

The answer is in Larry Ball's book They Called Me Mr. Bonanza, which has a year-by-year list of changes. I'm away from home until Saturday night so I can't look it up right now. If you don't get the answer from another source by then I'll check it when I get home.

(I'm thinking that change happened in 1984, but could be wrong. I'll look it up.)

happened mid 1984 with the A36/B58 the F33/B55 retained the "old style" setup through the end of production.

To my knowledge Bonanzas (up to the current day) have NEVER had throttle quadrants.

Somewhere around 55 they added the wheel to the piano key switches, prior to that they were a row of identical switches. Around 1962 they went from the piano keys to a more traditional "wheel on a microswitch" configuration. 84 does sound about right for them moving the wheel to the pilot's side of the panel.

I stand corrected about the quadrant issue.
