What would you do if you won the lottery?

An acquaintance of mine won 7 mil in the lottery and his life did not change much. He’s a hard worker and has run his own business most of his life and still goes to work everyday. He did treat himself to a nice 5th wheel trailer. Same home and wife. He not healthy enough for a medical so no airplanes to spend it on. One of the more sedate stories of someone winning the lottery.

I could see that. But, then again, 7 million is not 70 million either.

Warbirds. I would like to only have a small fortune.

If I won the super lottery I would go out and buy a better group friends....:rofl:

Rush home.
“Honey, I’ve won the lottery, quit my job! Pack a bag!”

“That’s wonderful!......should I pack for warm or cold weather?”

“Huh?......what should I care?....as long as you’re out by nightfall”

It's kind of a scary thought, but a million bucks really isn't all that much anymore. I do not view one million to be enough to retire on. I do view 7 million as largely adequate.

I recall reading an article where a population of wealthy individuals were asked what was the least net worth that they would consider rich. The answer was $8 million. I can see that, if you spend four percent per year, that's 320,000 gross, and that would get you in the bottom of the rich lifestyle.

I do not view one million to be enough to retire on.
Nor do I, unless you have very low expectations. I do see 1 mil as enough to push my retirement age down by a few years, though.

What would I do if I were to win the big lottery???? Get the HELL out of komnifornia and buy a better plane

The article got us because many of us would do that to a former boss or employer...

Why would you prolong your association with someone who treated poorly enough that you would even feel the need to take revenge? You know thats gonna cost you a lot more than the cost of the manure delivery, right?

If I won the lottery, and felt the need to take revenge on my boss, I just walk in one day with no notice (Washington is an "at will" state) tell my boss off, and then flip 'em all off as security "escorted" me from the premises and took my badge.

Ditto! $1M is probably about the cost of a solid education from the university of "how do I manage money when I've never had any before". Flunking out is when you blow your lottery millions on cocain and hookers and wind up in jail for tax evasion.

You don't need a million bucks to do that.

Still go to work everyday, have to have somewhere to drive the Centenario to.

$5M or less I’d have a few cool toys. Super lotto and a few friends would have a few cool toys and enough time to enjoy them.

I’d go to work, try to do nothing, see how long it takes them to fire me, collect unemployment.

To answer the original question, instead of $225k worth of BS, I'd be looking at something like this:

And going somewhere like this:

Unless you plan on hiring Henning full time to run the boat for you, probably better off renting.

I would definitly get a couple airplanes - Probably a Stemme so I can keep my A&P employed full time, and... dunno, would have to think about it.

That's my present no-win plan!

I'd certainly have at least access to a few to use to get between home and the boat.

Guy I worked with won big in Vegas. I forget how much, but enough to live off of for a good while. He called one of the local FM morning shows who then called our HR and put the call on the air. Except that it was too early and they got voice mail. He said "Hi this is so-and-so, I quit". We heard that he then moved to Vegas. Never did hear how long that lasted.

My educated guess... not nearly as long as he thought it would last.

First of all, a PC24 to get around. If I won enough $$$, I'd even see about paying them to certify an extended range version for long over-water flights, to get to...

My vacation home in Hawaii. I might keep an Extra 330LS out there for tearing up the sky with when I'm there.

Then, a vacation home out in Couer d'Alene, or Sandpoint, or Alpine, with a Carbon Cub or a C185 for bopping around all the wonderful backwoods mountain strips up there.

Then, another one somewhere down in Texas so I could visit all the wonderful people there more frequently. And eat lots of brisket tacos.

I'd keep my current house to make it easy to visit friends and family here.

I'd have a fleet of Teslas to keep at all the airports I went to to get around.

And, I would travel the world in the PC24. First trip would be to load up my parents and my in-laws and fly to (and around) Europe to see all the world's great orchestras in their great venues, eat lots of tasty food, see the sights...

I'd probably spend a good amount of time exploring Australia and New Zealand, and some of the south Pacific islands as well.

Not that I've thought about this at all...

I'd buy $200,000 of manure to dump on my lawn because having a great lawn has always been a goal.
