What to do near Miami (OH) University

I'll be flying with the owner of the one planes we manage to visit Miami University in Ohio (not FL:() with his son for a few days. We leave Thursday afternoon and will make one stop and be there probably around 8pm. I'll have Friday all day there. Any ideas? Anything worth while seeing? I will probably not have a rental car so everything will be walking or taking public transportation if that is available.
 
Oxford is apparently a decent town but other than that there isn't too much around there besides the school. It seems like about half of my HS class is going there next year but I haven't visited so that's about all I can give ya.

Yea we were going to fly into OXD then the owner decided on HAO. It seems like OXD is slightly closer to the university though.
 
Ya it's a bit closer and owned by the University. Butler county (HAO) is a lot bigger though with better facilities.
 
Lunken Field isn't too far. It has a nice restaurant. I flew in there for a Reds game and took a cab from LUK to Great American for around $20. Uber migh be an option to get farther down in town ?
Not sure how far the city bus runs towards Hamilton, but there is the zoo downtown as well.
 
Fly to LUK, park at the restaurant. It's the old terminal building with some history on display inside. Good food, window and patio seating available to watch planes.

Fly to Greene County and take the shuttle to the Air Force museum.
 
I lived near there. There is nothing to do. I agree with go to the Air Force museum. Also, go meet @VanDy !
 
Unfortunately I don't have a say in the destination so we will definitely be going to HAO. I guess the museum is out. Looks like HBO in the hotel!

HAO is a good airport. Get a rental car yourself and drive up - the museum isn't that far of a drive if you're otherwise sitting around, about an hour or so from there.
 
The museum is really, really cool. Easy to spend a day there.

Very true. Ive probably been there 20+ times and still see new stuff every time. Looking forward to seeing the expansion this summer. Going to fly over for the first time which'll be cool too.
 
Well I found a decent BBQ place and now I'm just in the hotel lobby studying for the ATP written.
 
Sunny here, but windy. Bad storms on Wednesday night, complete with a tornado the next county east. But it's cool, I had to wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt this afternoon.
 
Get a bagel from Bagel and Deli before you leave. My wife graduated from there and when I flew her back for a weekend I was taught it was a rite of passage. That and going to the diner in the student center and getting a "toasted roll".
