What to do around Hartford?

I'm pretty new to the Hartford area (here on a summer internship), and I've got a plane (a 172) reserved Friday from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. I'd ideally put 1-1.5 on the hobbs. Dinner is a plus though by no means necessary. Also, I haven't flown at night in about a year and might be carrying passengers, so I'd like to plan to be on the ground by 8:30 to give myself a nice margin.

How do I maximize my fun?

New England Air Museum is at Bradley. Park at TAC AIR and get a ride over to the museum. It's about 3 miles away on the opposite side of the airport.
You could also try Owls Head Transportation Museum in Rockland Maine. Park at the FBO and get a ride or just taxi over to the backdoor.
Block Island Ri is a nice visit. Red brick lighthouse near the airport. And the restaurant serves some pretty good food.
Nantucket is another ice visit.

Are you allowed to land on grass ? There is that grass strip on Marthas Vineyard, Katama or something like that. Allways wanted to try that one out.

You could also try Owls Head Transportation Museum in Rockland Maine.

I don't think the OP is going to make Rockland from Hartford and back in a 172 within the timeframe allowed.

Katama is fun....my first time on grass was in an SNJ at Katama last summer.

It's a pretty short flight from HFD, but the restaurant at BAF is pretty good.

Even better is the restaurant at EWB . . .

you can try Block Island - a decent flight in a 172 from HFD.
