What the heck is going on in Mississippi?

We'll beat ole miss and still get in.

So if I understand this correctly, two teams from the same conference could play each other in the championship game, right? Alabama and Mississippi State for example? Will the selection committee allow that to happen?

Unfortunately, states world has unwound in a span of about 12 hours. First losing to the toothless, now Florida has fired muschamp and Mullen is sure to be headed to Gainesville.

It has happened before; 3 years ago Alabama played LSU in the National Championship game. I'm not sure if it'll happen this year since it would require two SEC teams to be the right seeds and win their games. But with the way this new system works, who knows.

I don think he'll go.

The only people who believe this are state fans. Better recruiting base, in the sec east instead of the west, more money and lastly, a REAL chance to win a championship.

Florida is a headache job with a delusional fan base (as the bama fan base), just ask Spurrier, Meyer, Strong, Zook, and now Muschamp. Of the last 5 coaches, only 1 of them had been there for more than 5 years (Spurrier). Thats a job with a pretty poor reputation!! I would not leave a fan base that is happy with a marginal winning season and a win over Ole **** to be considered a good yr and still get paid $4M a year.. Not saying Mullen will or will not leave, I know I wouldn't if I was Mullen.

Coaches want to win championships. Can't be done at state, it can at florida.

Just curious, and why could it not be done at Ms State?

Because you have to be the best team in the sec west to have a chance. State has ridden a fairly easy schedule this year when the rest of the west is down and they still cant get it done. You have to face it, the entire sec is down this year. This was the best chance in a century and it aint gonna happen. Mullen is as good as gone.

You still have not told me why Ms State couldn't win a national championship?? You have just said they can't win the SEC west, which again I ask, why could state not win the SEC west?? Give me hard facts for your reason for saying this?? Is there some rule out there that says a Ms team can't win the national championship?? If not Ms State has just as much a chance as any other team in the league. I will end by saying if Auburn can pull out a national championship team Ms State can to!!! Hail State!! Do you not have faith that your Auburn tigers can beat bama this year??

Disclaimer: I know your not ignorant enough to believe Ms State truly couldn't win a national championship so I will continue to play along just because I have nothing else to do right now :)

No, I don't actually believe they can.

Let me add to this. The playoff system would help state in a situation where you "might" get two sec teams in the playoffs. The bottom line is, they can't recruit enough playmakers to go to school in Starkville. Are you still mad that we outbid you guys for Cam?

Dak and Robinson will be back. Florida is a cluster****. Besides, his wife likes Starkville.

I just want to make sure I say this. I usually don't talk much football smack like I have here because it usually comes back to bite you. I really am just poking fun and don't really get worked up about it. Good luck the rest of the season, I really was pulling for State saturday. I guess my team will be your favorite in two weeks. I don't see us beating the unwashed, but you never know.

Mike I felt like you were just trying to get folks rauled up and having a little fun so I thought I would play along also since I was bored . I'm like you, I enjoy watching and pull for the bull dawgs but it doesn't consume my life. And I have always said that I think Auburn has one of best fan bases as I have had nothing but good experiences with fans from auburn in the past.. And yes, I may give a few war Eagle during the iron boll

Actually, if we can stay in the top 4 without playing Georgia, I'm OK with that. Though I'd rather have an sec championship.

Word on the street is that Mullen and Foley aren't big pals.

I think Foley is difficult to work for. Muschamp was doomed from the get go with the bizarre Charlie Weiss OC choice. I do think that the PTB in Florida will push for Mullen, whether or not he goes is hard to say. I do believe there will be a BIG push to get him.

Just saw on ESPN where Foley (AD at Florida) says Dan Mullen is not a good fit for their program and he is not on the coach replacement list.. I have always heard they did not get along very well when Dan was at Fl as the OC.. Only time will tell

Again, we will see. Saban had a press conference in Miami saying he absolutely would not go to Alabama. Tuberville was only gonna leave Oxford in a pine box. I could give many more examples, but you get the point. The money in Florida wants Mullen, foley works for the people with the money. Time will tell. I will say this though. With State still somewhat in the mix, there will be nothing but denial from both sides even if a deal was already done.

I think all you have to do now is not lose and you are in the playoffs. Probably get a Bama rematch in the first round.

I think that's the way it would line up now. #1 vs #4. Curious to see who's still standing after all the conference championships are done.
