We have determined a need for a POA fly-in out to the east so more POAers can meet more POAers. Looks like the location that has been
Where: M34 - Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park.
When: 4/26-29
Now what should it be called?
That's the synopsis so far. Read the decision making process below if you are up for that kind of torture.
Campsites right off the air field
As well as golfing, hiking, boating, horseback riding, fishing, and food
@eman1200 and I were chatting on facebook and realized we will likely never meet. He seemed really happy about that but I was a little "hmmm, I'd like to meet ye ole man of E"
So splitting the difference between he and I would be somewhere in the Memphis region.
I know this is POA so the responses will be all "Upstate NY has this great little strip" or "they have great Lobster at this airport in Maine" but lets say put a 100 mile ring around this more memphisy location and are there folks with some level of familiarity of that area that would be able to make a recommendation?
Based on the few POA fly-ins I have attended what appears to be critical are either cabins on site or the option of camping. Grass strip with a paved strip very close by. An area where a large group of people can sit, eat, drink and drink.
So first and most important are recommendations for a location and some supporting criteria as to why this location would be good.
2nd would be what time of year would be good? During 6Y9 or Gastons would not be ideal.
It seems folks prefer cooler temps (fall or spring has those).
Lastly who might be willing to participate in a yearly fly-in of this nature in this general location?
Oh and what should it be called?
