I’ve been digging through my medical records in prep to meet with a HIMS AME in my state. I’m in a bit of shock and extremely frustrated to learn that there are a few conditions/issues that are in both my actual doctors record, and insurance list of conditions/issues that have never been communicated to me, nor have I ever been treated for.

For example, today I observed a diabetes diagnosis in my insurance records from 2014, I have never reported, nor has it been reported to me or recorded in my actual medical record I have the disease. I have no prescription history of any diabetic related medications or testing supplies.

Also, there are other inconsistencies as well such as Anxiety, Agoraphobia with Panic Attacks, Situational Anxiety etc. none of these were diagnosed or discussed with me via a specialist. At one point in my life I asked for something to help me sleep on long flights for business and pleasure, it was a 5 minute conversation, he recommended low dose Xanax. Like an idiot I didn’t ask any questions and it worked out for me. However, that is where the “anxiety” diagnosis came from.

I have seen a mental health counselor over the past year or so due to family issues. I’ve recently brought up to her my discoveries and she’s is in complete disagreement and is quite shocked a GP would make such diagnosis on his own.

I know I’m ranting but, when trying to get a medical it’s extremely frustrating that I have no other option but to pay a ton of money to prove a negative.

Care to back up a few dozen steps and state why you're seeing a HIMS AME? It's not exactly a part of the normal routine.

Great question. Based on what I’m reading from the posts on this forum, and the medical “diagnosis” in my record, I assumed I’d need to go that route to have the best chance of having a class 3 issued without a denial.

Because of what diagnosis that you were aware of?
Anxiety, agoraphobia with panic attacks, and a script for situational anxiety (Celexa) that was prescribed, and later rescinded because I told the doc that I didn’t want to follow his advice to “give it a try” after reading what it was for and what side effects it had. He agreed, it would be best to not take it....

The diagnosis was logged by my primary care doc. Not a specialist in Psych.

I’m trying to avoid being steered wrong with submitting for a class 3. If HIMS isn’t needed, that will surely save some time and money. However from why I’ve been reading on this board. Having the “diagnosis” in my record, even if untrue, would be a difficult case to process correctly.

Perhaps I’ve been reading it all wrong?

Simon and Garfunkel once wrote, "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest".

At least in America you have the option to pay for the necessary evaluations, to spend resources to convince the Federal Air Surgeon that you can operate with equivalent safety. In many other countries you do not even have that option.

You have not given enough information here for me to be able to give you a good answer, nor do you want to publish all that.....
