14 CFR 110.2 defines: “Noncommon carriage means an aircraft operation for compensation or hire that does not involve a holding out to others."
AC 120-12A defines: "Carriage for hire which does not involve "holding out" is private carriage."
In many FARs the terms are used together as in: "A person authorized to engage in noncommon or private carriage...".
This suggests that private carriage and noncommon are synonymous terms and interchangeable. But is this true? Thank you.
