What is maintenance costs like in Cessna's?

I posted previously about a friend of mine who had to drop 15k for a parachute repack every 10 years and the maintenance costs involved in maintaining a Cirrus. (Here: http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86070)

What is the maintenance costs like for other airplanes like Pipers and Cessnas? I was told that Cirrus costs are generally high because of the safety features.

What are maintenance costs like for a Cessna 206? or a Piper Warrior?

Re: Cessna. Maintenance cost is dependent on airplane condition. A basic annual inspection would be about $1K if nothing requires repair. Consumables are dependent on how often it flies. You always need to be prepared for the unexpected like a catastrophic engine failure. One day it runs fine, the next you need $30K to make it airworthy. The joy of ownership.
 
It would also depend on the specific model. A 152 wouldn't be outrageous at it's worst, but a T210 or a 421 would be astronomical for even the "smallest" of fixes.
 
Maintenance costs were peanuts for my Cherokee. The airframe only had about 1200 parts. I think my motorcycle has more.

A warrior vs a 206, those two are not really comparable.

Maybe a warrior and a 182.


Ether way, I from what I've read people pay for those "safety" features, a PA28 or 100 series cessna sounds to be much less expensive in general.


The more simple and less electronic / hydraulic the plane the better, my 185 isn't bad at all, last annual was under 1k and most APs can work on any aspect of it without needing a speciality shop

Not exactly accurate. You can still have bulbs burn out in a T210 or 421, and those are still $5 ($250 if you buy LED bulbs).

Where I really see the money on the pressurized twins is when you have things like crankcase cracks (common on 421s), windshield cracks (not necessarily common but $20k when it occurs), etc. The trick is being lucky and not have it occur.
