What happen?????

Perhaps you two should either get a room or take it out back
No need to take anything anywhere. People attempting to help or provide any information is obviously unappreciated and unwanted. I provided what I considered valuable information. There is nothing to be won by me saying anything more.

Well now I'm confused, Jesse. I already asked you to explain the value to me. How does that suggest to you that valuable information is unwelcome?

I already apologized for misinterpreting your earlier posts. As I said earlier:

"Well, no, I didn't. I couldn't and still don't see what possible use is the log when I'd posted an hour earlier the reason why PoA was down, and that it was because our hosting vendor was doing hardware and electrical system work that overran the schedule. Other than telling us exactly how long the vendor had us offline, of what use is that log in this case?"

Like I said earlier - since I didn't see the value, I thought you were trying to be a smart-aleck about the downtime. You said you weren't, and I believe you, but I still don't get the point of the log.

So, since you intended the log to be meaningful, I'm clearly missing what the intended purpose is - thus the reason for my question.

There really should be no need to explain the value of a report telling you the exact downtime of your provider. The reason I created the script was because everytime POA goes down you have 10 people reporting 20 different times. This script gives the full picture.

I don't know the terms you have with Media Temple. Perhaps there is a clause in the SLA that provides a credit for the down time if you complain. A report like this is generally how you make such a claim against a host.

There are things that I administer that I have no control over when they go down. That said I still monitor them 24 x 7 and still get paged 24 x 7. I want to know when there is a problem--no matter if I can do anything about it or not.

Really though--I don't understand why you would assume the worst. I shouldn't have to write on the bottom of all my posts that my intent is good. Most people just read it that way without the negative spin.

Ok, then thank you for the log. Should we ever have a longer outage that wasn't expected, it may be useful.

No secret - $200/yr, so ~$180/month. For what amounts to less than 1 days outage when we were warned in advance, nothing I'm gonna complain to them about.

I wouldn't say I assumed the worst - I could think of far worse things than just being snotty about some downtime.

However, your point deserves a response, and that is simple - you and I have a history of getting snitty with each other, more than once, as I'm sure you will recall without me dredging up the sordid details. It was bias based on prior experience - nothing more. It wasn't fair to you, and again I apologize for it.

Nick should spend more time focusing on work, and less time focusing on internet webboards. I think we should all ridicule him.

Nick needs to update the picture in his signature so we can stop looking at the back of the dude who is blocking the shot.

He's building a frickin' workbench... and taking his sweet time doin' it!

Ouch. This is why I never read or post on POA at work.:no:

I got that, too. Methinks some of us should get a life. :D

Interesting. The web was up but the db behind it was down... I'll check and see if I can find out any news on that.

Did the site shut down for anyone else about 0130 EST on Sunday morning? It did on me for about an hour.

It goes down almost daily for at least a little while.

92.85% uptime since I started monitoring POA. Their grid service isn't all it's cracked up to be.
