Lets say you have to leave your current residence tomorrow, and move to another state on the other side of the country. You only have time to do one last thing in your current location before you leave.

What do you do? Sometimes its a favorite restaurant, a favorite sporting event, favorite location or amusement park, etc.

I can start by saying that today, I ate Carolina BBQ for the last time. There were so many other things I wanted to do today, but that was the one thing I had to do before I left.

What's yours?

Meet up with area friends at some restaurant for a goodbye meal.

Preferably something local that isn't a chain and you won't be able to get where you're moving to. A favorite local pizza place or something.

I am old enough and moved enough to recognize it really is not a big deal. :D

Cheers

Somewhere I missed the Nick is changing jobs and moving thread ;)

Punch someone you have never liked in the face. Wear a skimask - they'll never be able to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

I just moved from Montana to Georgia. Montana food is horrible but I had a pork chop sandwich. Me and some of my buddies went out and hit the breweries up because Montana beer isn't horrible. I went to a couple of fly-ins and visited a couple of airports on my todo list.

Don't do that.

Murphy dictates that would guarantee that you would be returning before the slight was forgotten

I would make sure that I knew how to contact the folks that I had become friends with....

I've have moved more times in my life than I care to remember, the only thing I've taken with me from the old place is memories.

With that said, I will always remember which place had the best of what and that way I'll have a reason to return.

California: In-N-Out Burger and real Mexican food.
Texas: TexMex food and pretty awesome Mexican food (Note: this is as far east as you can get real Mexican food).
New York: Pizza and Italian food that can not be reproduced anywhere else in the world.
Colorado: Freshest power ever.
Central Florida: Oranges and Mickey Rat.
South Florida: Cuban food, Cuban coffee, Cuban Bread, Cuban women.
FL Keys: Key Lime Pie, Rum Runners and Island Attitude that comes from the lower latitudes.
Georgia: Peaches and sweet southern women.
South Cackalacky: Peaches and more sweet southern women.

I have intentionally scattered my friends all over the world so that I always have someone to visit no matter where I may roam.

So, you've not stayed in the same spot long enough to develop strong bonds with anything/one there? Or accumulate a buttload of stuff (large stuff) that needs to be moved with you. ;)

Dam! that's a long haul. And here I am sweatin' what I'll do If I get hired.

If I was bugging out of town here in North Wilmington I would have to make a farewell run to Helens Sausage house for a double with cheese, buy 5 lbs to go and some scrapple. Ok where is the moving truck???

I moved enough to know you buy new stuff. Cost more to move the stuff you have, you can buy new.
Try going from sea level to 10,000'. What I did before I left town....Don't look back.
I found some of the nicest people out west. As one travels back to the midwest people start to get rude.

Don't forget some Pasta at Mrs. Rubinios.

I once encountered a New Yorker that told me Floridians are rude, I quickly reminded him that most Floridians are ex-New Yorkers and that he probably had just been running into some of his own peeps.

Nice.

Lordy me, every time I have moved, the last thing I did was sweat getting all the stuff out of the house/condo/apartment in time.

Last "big" move was California to Texas (gosh, seems like yesterday, but it was a Long Time Ago), we did have a pretty good party put on by my wife, and attended by my wonderful co-workers from The COM Products Division of the Bell & Howell Company. A better bunch, there never was.

Edit: Congrats on new opportunities, Nick! We knew you when...

Pee.

It is likely to be a long trip.

I'll let you know! I'm here in MA tonight to do a walk through on my next home tomorrow.

+1... Although it really stinks that you're still responsible if you have someone else willing to do it for you. Bummer.
