One of my friends wanted to go up this afternoon and fly. He didn't care where we went, so i decided to head North. We flew over a hunting lodge out that way that we go to every once in while. We then did a Touch and Go at Fort Scott airport. Headed back towards Pittsburg and ended up flying around the area here for awhile.
He thought it was awesome that you can just land and then take right back off from an airport like that. I hadn't really thought about it for a while, but it is a pretty cool thing we can do.

Best,

It sounds like your friend's comment was derived from the perspective gotten from the airlines. Yeah, sometimes we do take it for granted but I don't have too much trouble reminding myself that we are doing something man has wished for since time began. Sometimes it boggles my mind to think that we now have the ability to fly and yet so much of humanity chooses not to.

In a historical context, the ability for humans to fly, while 100 years and counting, is but a blink of the eye in all of human history. It is our duty to tae advantage of this ability.

And it sounds like you had a grand time.:)

Flying for the noblest of all reasons:
Because it is cool.

I love it! This past weekend I flew down to MYL (gorgeous winter day) ostensibly to check out the seating in a restaurant I want to take a group to. I didn't even have lunch there, just checked out the restaurant. I was on the ground maybe 20 minutes, max. It was worth the 2.5 hours flight time because the REAL point was the flight!

In the middle of our busy season, I like to step back and buzz around in a piper cub. It always takes me back to why I do what I do. Very refreshing and satisfying!!!
