Yes that is a great story, he also was visited by then President Bush, He won an ESPY award beating out Kobe Bryant's 81 point game. He has written a book, and a film deal is in the works. I love this kind of story as I have a younger brother Ron that was born Down Syndrome. I was also a coach and had a boy like this on one of my teams.
I used to work with kids who had autism. Handicapped kids are AWESOME. When I was in middle/high school I used to volunteer at a camp for handicapped children. I have to say...those were my favorite summers during school.
I also used to help out with handicapped horseback riding. That was a lot of fun as well.
That's an awesome story. I'm glad he saw a piece of greatness that he earned on his own and will help carry him forward. I'm betting the coach is thinking... "I could have put him the whole season! What was I thinking???"

It's easy to pass over people with autism / Aspbergers / etc. because they can be so lacking in social skills. Many of them have some pretty impressive capabilities that just end up going unused...
