Touchdown! Greaser!
We were close to trying to make it up there, but there was a pirep for light rhime ice at 1700ft over CWA about 1 hour before departure time. So no go.
So, instead of chili, we just went up to West Bend and battled some brutal winds while shooting the VOR approach. Outbound ground speed was 154kts - even in the 172 you get to the 10 mile ring pretty quick - and inbound GS was 46kts. Oh yea, and there was low level wind sheer. Fun and games under the hood.
I think with a little effort, we could have set up slow flight and hovered over that VOR!
