- - - as pre-supposed: FAST and feature-laden.

** Prices remain the same; 4G or automatically switches to 3G where 4G not available. Takes dictation. Is super fast over the iPad 2.

did they lower the price on the iPad2 ?

Nothing indicated relative to that.

Release date March 16; pre-orders being taken today.

I thought the appeal to an iPad was that it's not feature laden. You know, like not allowing you to be able to download charts and check your email at the same time :)

No live feed that I know of. I'm following Engadget's live blog TW referenced above.

And they haven't used the term "iPad 3" or "iPad HD"... just "the new iPad". Will they drop the number designation altogether?

Earlier word was that the Apple Store was "taken down" during the "New iPad" introduction.

Yeah, but normally they put up a default "We'll be back soon" page, which apparently they've done now...

The above was an "oops" on the Deployment folks' part. :)

can the 3G version of ipad2 get inflight weather? I'm planning on getting the 4G but never tried getting weather on my iphone and only have the first ipad in wifi.

Any iPad can get in-flight weather via XM receiver and bluetooth converter, legally.

Getting it from the cellular network is iffy at best, and technically illegal by FCC regulations.

The chances of getting 4G LTE in-flight are lots lower than 3G which is lower than 2G.

So... nothing in the new iPad makes getting in-flight weather any "easier" technically, no.

[Edit: Is just about every pilot with an iPad going to try it, new iPad, old iPad, or whatever? Sure. The above is just the technical details and the law. Reality is somewhere else... and just as likely to work as not work. I wouldn't bet my life on it working, though.]

Yeah I know you can get it with WingX and a lot of money.

That was a painful process (Apple's site, under load) but I did finally get through and pre-order. I was running an iPad 1, and am jumping over the 2 and going straight to 3.

Did the same...skipped the ipad2 and finally got out of the apple store. Also added in the Apple TV. Roku's are awesome but I'm interested in the mirroring of the ipad.
