yep. Mine is half painted due to a flap, wing, and stab repairs done on a grass short field takeoff gone wrong in 2007, two owners removed from me. Repairs were documented, sucker's been flying strong just as it was before the damage. I carry my family around in it for the last 3 years. 130(heavy)-135(light) true at 9gph. They took the insurance money and put a bunch of speed mods in it rather than re-paint the thing. I got it at a discount, I'll have to sell it at a discount.
Other than that, what's to worry about? Once you displace resale value to further down the equation, the world of affordable aviation opens up; just like a woman in her 30s who finally understands she ain't that hot and she ain't 21 anymore, the used market starts looking less depressing and more available than she previously gave it credit for.

I'm on the fence about selling my plane. It's a 1977 Piper Archer II. It has the tapered wing you are looking for. Has 3100 tt, 1080 SMOH, 1 SPOH. Glass panel, and many other options and aftermarket goodies.
$75,000 will push me off the fence.
